Pinckney ????

They busted their asses, but a lot of them haven't had an original idea in 20 years either. That's the problem. They are your old uncle, telling you about the glory days, while the world changes around them. Keep in mind, it was a lot of our old letterwinners that wouldn't shut up about the pro style O, when the spread was taking over. It was the letterwinners that wouldn't let go of the fact that the Cover 2 4-3 is obsolete and flexibility is key in today's game.

They are free to talk, but I'm tired of our athletic department taking pointers from them. That's why I can't wait for this school to hire a competent AD, because they will tell these guys what they should have been told years ago: We love you, we appreciate you, but you aren't running a **** thing.
Uncle Roscoe "C'mon coach, run dem boys this week at practice! They sawft!"

I think that the lazy *** people around the program play to the older letterwinners, hence why Randy Shannon was hired, hence why an obviously over the hill Mark Richt was hired, hence why guys like Schiano and Butch continue to be candidates, even though they wouldn't be candidates for any major job in the country.

It's easy to sell crap like that, by playing the "Miami Bro" card, although most of us know it's crap. That said, the letterwinners that are highly intelligent and well traveled don't buy this crap and those are the ones that are ignored(Alonzo Highsmith is chief among them).

Hmm…. You speak as if you know and are aware Zo was on campus THIS week prior to UVA. Chillin with his feet up on Scavo’s desk. Ignored? Not sure that’s the best way to put it..

While I hear what you’re saying….you don’t know what ya don’t know. (No I’m not saying Zo is about to be AD or any of the sort unfortunately).

And yes, Mandy and beta need to go. But they had no business being in their roles in the first place. Been my stance since day one on both.

No he's not. He's sticking up for the players. Cause it was dj,Jon,Vilma & a few others helped him, Shaq & McCloud tighten up. Not no one wants be near this program.
Please tell us that something is going to happen to get us out of this misery? Is our program really dying?

I’m sorry, y’all can’t disrespect shaq, he did everything right and represented Miami in a great way, Pinckney while a good player, he could have done more but I see Where he’s coming from

How about our fanbase stops being a bunch of jock sniffers? How about that? That's another thing we have to examine and grapple with as well.

Manny isn't the answer, but we also need to admit that our entire culture, from the top down is toxic. The years of "Miami Bro" got us Manny Diaz in the first place. The years of "We need someone who understands the Miami swag" got us Manny Diaz, a guy that could ape said "Swag" but have little idea how to do anything else.

I'm in favor of former letterwinners being on the sidelines, I want to hear why they aren't being given that opportunity. That said, I also want this program to move into a new era, where we aren't always living in the past either.
I can assure you that nothing about this fan base got us manny diaz. He wasn’t wanted here as a DC, let alone HC. The receipts are in thread after thread from 2016 and 2018.

This fanbase knows you can’t ape the “swag” that this program was known for, and sniffed out his phony Miami attitude day 1. Those that jumped on board w him did so only because his failure meant UMs failure. The “swag” that you’re talking about was a Nike marketing ploy intended to sell T shirts, but was picked up by ESPN and used to belittle the state of the program. No actual hurricane fan uses that word to describe this team, past or present.

Let’s talk about culture… This board wanted a disciplinarian, not someone who played grab *** after missed tackles. The toxic culture in the locker room stems from decisions like starting a QB the day after he broke curfew to smoke weed. Or snort pills. That’s how a culture turns toxic… by lying to players, breaking promises, not enforcing rules and neglecting to do what’s best for the team.

This fanbase is no different from any fanbase…. Except we’ve had to put up with 15+ years of neglect and outright hostility from our own administration. We’ve held it together pretty well, all things considered. You’ve been here long enough. You shouldn’t have to be lectured about the toxicity in this program.

What got us manny diaz was Blake James. What got us Blake James is a negligent BOT and an administration that vacillates between absent and downright hostile.

Quit blaming the only group left who gives a shlt.

Some things cant be defended. Accountability is everything in life.

It’s on the former players? That’s what the coach is paid for

How do y’all read that and take away that he is capping for Manny when he specifically mention talking about the players?

Question, is Tim Tebow, not one of the greatest college players ever? Regardless of your opinion of him. Just because you are great in college, doesn't mean you are a shoe in to be great in the pros. It is one of many indicators that this guy is going to produce in the pros.

I agree with you he relied on talent, but to have revisionist history to say he didn't produce while he was here. Come on. I am not saying he was in the Lewis, Vilma category, but talking about the man like he was Glenn Cook or something lol

Your comparing a first round draft pick to an UDFA. College production isn’t a perfect indicator of nfl success, but draft status is a pretty good indicator of college success.

I’m not disagreeing w your point necessarily, just saying the comps don’t hold up.

Guess nobody told Pink because plenty of old players come around. I think you might be thinking about times when old players were limited from the sideline at games. If you want to help a team you comes to practice or such not just too games sews yu can parade around in yo Gucci’s and git on tv.
Nope. Richt allowed the former players after golden did not. Manny went back to barring them. A bunch of them have been on various pods and Twitter talking about it.

Call.me crazy, but Manny is getting paid $4,000,000 per year to coach the team. If the team needs Ray Lewis to come in and teach tackling, that's not on Ray Lewis.
100%. This is like blaming your friends for your marriage falling apart.

There has to be a balance between old players getting involved and letting coaches do their jobs.

No coach is going to want old players circumventing them.

The problem is the on field production is so bad it creates this mess we are in and social media only makes it worse.

I really think we need a hard discipline type coach. These young kids need that mentoring they would get from a coach like that. On and off the field. Sorry but being a buddy is not what a coach is, not unless the respect is there and it clearly isn’t.

Time for a complete house cleaning and then if the new coach can start to right the ship former players can get involved

No disrespect to what the former players did to make this the team we love.

I don’t take this as him sticking up for Manny “his guy”. Don’t think he likes the direction of the program just as much as the next guy. **** no one does. Think this is him looking out for his boys in the locker room that he played beside

Why doesn’t he mention anything about coaching? Lmao I like Pinckney but that’s pathetic, refuses to criticize his buddy.
That was his buddy and that is our problem right now at Miami. Manuel is too buddy buddy with these guys. They don’t call him coach or sir. It’s MANNY to them.
