There’s a reason he loved Manny. He played with reckless abandon and had zero regard for assignments. Mike was all or nothing. He was the perfect LBer for Manny’s scheme. Be out of position 95% of the time but the other 5% he was making splash plays.

Outside of a select few, the older generation b*tch on social media but don't back it up by giving back, whether that be showing up to help with practices, mentoring, etc. These were the same folks that led the rally cries for hiring Shannon and probably think Butch should still be HC.

Manny isn't the answer, but we also need to admit that our entire culture, from the top down is toxic. The years of "Miami Bro" got us Manny Diaz in the first place. The years of "We need someone who understands the Miami swag" got us Manny Diaz, a guy that could ape said "Swag" but have little idea how to do anything else.

I'm in favor of former letterwinners being on the sidelines, I want to hear why they aren't being given that opportunity. That said, I also want this program to move into a new era, where we aren't always living in the past either.

Brad Kaaya and Ken Dorsey are the All-Time leading passer in School History. Are they in the NFL? are they Hall of Famers? Duke Top 3 rusher in program history. What is he doing in the NFL? Coley is another one, Top three in yards in school history. Where is he? Production in college doesn't mean you are guaranteed to be good in the pros. Look Tim Tebow All-Time great college player, but ain't worth two squirrel farts in the NFL

Micheal Irvin is one of the greatest canes, if not the greatest, canes ever!! Look at the **** he got into of the field, but on the field he produced. Lawerance Taylor same ******* thing. Some people can just overcome that type of stuff. So to say because Pinckney was out of shape he was good?! Stop it. When he was on the field he produced. Would we have liked him to come in at his apex? of course. But more times than not he was one of our top Defensive players

That’s not shade, but the fact is Pinck had the highest ceiling out of the trio, and imo, he didn’t dedicate himself to hitting that ceiling vs relying on God given abilities. I definitely wouldn’t classify him as a baller here as opposed to a good player that “could’ve” been great.

I don’t think anyone said he didn’t produce, but he wasn’t great here, either. He was a good player here, that peaked his Jr yr, but it wasn’t much of a leap. With that being said, I believe if he had better coaching, Pinck could’ve been one of more recent greats.

I usually see eye to eye with you, but out of high school he had the lowest ceiling, with McCloud having the highest. Then in college, it was always Shaq the highest and then a distinct Pinckney. And I love Pinckney.

You missed what I’m saying big dog… being the best defensive player on an average at best defense isn’t what being a “baller” at the U is all about.

As for the guys you mentioned… Duke has had a significant nfl career longer than the average nfl RB… Kaaya left a year earlier than he should have and Ken Dorsey made an NFL roster out of college as did coley.

What I said was right regardless of it hurting your feelings. Pinckney was a fine starting linebacker for a middling ACC team nothing more nothing less… if that’s what you want the standard to be then so be it.

And saying that Pickens produced at a level anywhere near what Irvin produced at is laughable. Be who you can afford to be… one Mike did and he’s in canton the other is in seskatchewan

This is what I meant by my statement: Shaq clearly was the crown jewel of the class, #5 LB in the nation, top 247 ranked player. McCloud, another 4 star LB, w/ Pinck being a 3 star.

Stars be damned, Pinck was an intriguing prospect & had a lot of excited due to his natural abilities.
-W/ Shaq, we saw a well coached kid, but showed some athletic limitations, but look like a high IQ, sure tackler type of LB… Old School, if u will.
-W/ McCloud, he always looked like a guy who was a no man’s land type of player, not quite a DE & not quite a LB.
-W/ Pinckney, dude showed crazy blitz instincts & a TFL machine. He flashed & showed those same abilities, and that FSU come back was a thing of beauty for him.

I’m not so sure about McCloud, but I believe w/ better coaching, both Shaq & Pinck would’ve had way better careers here.

Listen to the 1st interview T Bain did on Footballville. He gives a few examples. Ex players would give the current players tips on how to block, get off blocks, etc.
