Peter Ariz's Post-Practice Thoughts #9

I think we're good. If there is one person that can turn raw diamonds into something special, it's Mirabal.

People went from Cantwell potentially not starting to him basically being locked into LT. I think we will be far better than people anticipate purely because they have to block against these monsters every day.

My thoughts exactly.
Even with 3/4 gone, who on the schedule has a better and deeper room of edge and front 4 talent than we do? Notre Dame doesn’t. Will they be perfect? Of course not, but I don’t see them being an issue/slowing us down, barring injury of course *knock on wood*

I think the schedule is set up nicely to let them get reps before it gets tougher, which should help significantly.

This. OL is our “weak link” and it will never be a weak link with these coaches

Whichever 5 survives going against this DL all summer is gonna be happy to be playing against other teams

With the firepower on offense paired with one of the best defenses in the country, we’re going to blow out a lot of ACC teams. Compared to last year’s team, the 2026 squad is much better suited for regular-season dominance—largely because of improved talent and depth at wide receiver. Last year’s team, on the other hand, felt built for playoff football. We had Beck as the game manager, a strong run game with Fletcher/Marty, and the best line of scrimmage in the country

Is it going to be as good as last years? Definitely not. Is it still top 10 in the country? I definitely think so. This is a damm good O-line:

LT: Cantwell
LG: Samson
C: Rodriquez
RG: Buccanon
RT: McCoy

Doubtful. In 25, Lofton got 218 / 3 TDs, Bauman 166 / 1 TD, Gilbert 37 and Schott 24 0 TDs. And I doubt all of Lofton's yards were from the TE or split end position.

I'd rather go with 4 or 5 WRs TBH.
Loftion will be healthy, Gilbert will be a better target than Bauman, and Mueller is a new target that's ahead of where the freshmen were last year. And Mensah may actualy be looking for the TEs.

Its really just the Tackle spots that we should be worried about for the oline

We have two guys who we have seen at guard and a young guy that most are high on, our center has been here forever and mirabal said he could have started last year, merriweather has played guard before as well

Now we have cantwell at LT who’s ahead of schedule but im sure there will be growing pains in pass pro. At RT? This is the spot that has the most uncertainty if mccoy isn’t a smooth transition
