Pete, your silence is deafening on the AH kids...

The University of Miami admin needs to start throwing its weight around locally to help the football team get off the ground.

We're the biggest employer in South Florida, we have local politicians and powerful business leaders on our board, and **** our defensive coordinator is the son of the old mayor.

We need to start using our local political clout to punish schools who are "against us" such as hereitage, and to reward schools who are loyal to us

We need to install people who are friendly to our cause on the athletic departments and as coaches at these high schools...and we need to have unfriendly coaches such as the dude at Dwyer fired and blacklisted.

Need to start playing chess here

Another area where we are way behind the times. In the midst of Donna's fundraising and edifice complex, the football facilities got nothing and we spent MAAC money on our staff. It appears the new President isn't making the same mistake, hence the $4 million salary for Richt and the IPF. But, yes, diverting even a trivial amount from big money UM supporters towards inner city programs would go a long way. When you look at the budgets and the facilities these local teams have to take on other national and state powerhouses, it's pretty remarkable they have the success they do. UM needs to do a lot more locally, I think that's been pretty clear for a while.
