We have a long history of some of our faster players on our football team joining the track team. Do y'all know of any players running track this year?

*think it would benefit a few of our players

Great question. I don't know the answer. I can think of a few candidates right off the top (Thomas, Harley, Richards and Lingard).

butch used that to get a kids a scholarschip when he was reduced. they would have them come on a track scholly and do both sports

Was Thomas hurt (tweaked maybe?) at all this year? He did fine and I'm a big fan of him - I think he's going to kill it when we get better QB play. I was shocked, though, at him consistently being unable to get the edge on KO returns.

DJ Johnson was really impressive this year in the offseason working on his 100M sprint time.

I bet he can take to a whole new level this season.

Yeah and thank God Richt finally offered jalen Patterson and got him to sign early after he got his 5th star...... lol

No one butch recruited came on a track ship and stayed on a track ship and did both.

If you play football, you are on the count towards the 85 scholarship limit, whether you play another sport or not.

I still want that Brandon Taylor kid on the UM track team to come out for football.
Little guy but his HS videos were crazy.

Can't do that anymore. As soon as a student athlete goes over to football, he counts a football scholly.

Looks like Hartley and Dean are running track.
Tweed is Lo planning on running track?

I don't know what was going on KO returns. He looked full speed at receiver.

My guess is that Lingard and Davis take on KO role next year. Dallas might return punts.

I think the first and only was a linemen from Texas who threw shot. Butch definitely manipulated the rules and used that to work around the probation. He definitely invented the gray shirt concept. As I recall, the NCAA changed the rules because of Butch in regards to bringing in track kids on scholarship to also "wink-wink" play football. Might be wrong there. BTW, Santana Moss came in via track but he converted to football immediately.
