We need to work in guys at areas we don't have clear development. We need to sub guys out who consistently **** up.
Ya it seems like any established senior, especially if a portal player really has to f**k up to lose snaps….Most of them are playing well, but just saying… Not all of them.
- Idk how anyone can look at our LB performance this past week and not think every LB on this roster who has ability shouldn't get some reps/opportunity these next 3 games. Popo and Smith needs to start against Stanford just to send the message to Toure and Wes that their dog**** tackling performance was unacceptable from a LB. Then Wiley needs to get on the field at least 10 snaps.
This…I've defended Bissainthe on this board, and honestly he has had some good moments this year. But my god was he bad against Louisville…And Toure I've said 100 times is a thumper, doesn't need to be on the field in passing downs . Aguirre imo is underrated and plays well when in the game. I have no idea what has happened to Pruitt. If the LB struggle in passing downs (it's probably the most obvious weakness on this defense),
@DMoney isn't Pruitt the obvious answer here?
- We NEED to start rotating in a little bit at nickel. Start getting other guys a little experience there. Scott literally plays every single snap. Get other guys at least 7-10 snaps.
I wouldn't mind seeing it…But that's more of a thing for next year. But yeah if Scott is hurt we are f**ked. Hard to take him off the field, he has been as or more important than Bain to this defense.
- Obviously the DLine needs to be rotated in. It's simple in the first 3 quarter the starters are in but if the offense picks up a 1st or two, then half the DLine should be rotated out to get other guys in the mix. Then after 3-4 plays starters back in or the other half rotates out for a few. You want to preserve the starters for A) the full season and B) the 4th quarter. Literally we have like one guy they actually play at edge on non pure pass rush downs in place of Bain/Mesidor = Blount. You have to get other guys snaps. Justin Scott needs more experience too. Simpson and even Daylen Russell should be getting in the game instead of always Blount at DT. This is simple ****.
Moten has been a stud, Blay pretty good…But I agree Get #5 on the field for more than 10 snaps a game, he has been good as well. And Lightfoot makes **** happen literally every time he is on the field and he someow had 8 snaps against Lousiville. I can't fathom Malik Bryant not being able to help on this team at all either. Yes he's a tweener, but he can give you situational play or rest the starters for a drive here and there. I'm surprised he's BURIED like this, unless they know he's transferring and they think well enough for him to honor a redshirt request if they know he's leaving.
.
- TE rotation, Bauman is getting literally 2-3x more snaps than he should be. Get Schott and Gilbert the **** in the game. Lofton needs to start performing. But if all our TEs are gonna be used for is the outlet passes then Lofton is FAR better than Bauman at that cause he can actually get YAC! So can Schott. None of our TEs have earned exclusively playing time. So why the **** Bauman is on the field 90% of ******* snaps is pure insanity. Why do we literally never go 10 personnel? You're telling me Bauman has been better than Josh Moore to the point we can have 2 TEs on the field 10000x more than 4 WR? Give me a break.
Can't argue here either. I have no problem never being in 10 if it isn't your offense, I get it... But again Baumann is another portal player, and Mario seems to have made a pact with these kids. I don't see it with him as a blocker or receiver…Get Schott out there or give Lofton Baumann's snaps.
- also just as a fun package I'd love to see Toney at wildcat QB, Fletcher or Lofton at "FB" and Lyle at RB and do some classic speed/triple option with some play action passes off it.
Ehhh whatever. Probably nitpicking here, but yeah ya wouldn't mind a little variety.
All that is more long term focused. What immediately must change and is by far the most critical is just the entire offensive mentality. This staff needs to completely abandon the conservative nature. Period. Everything stems from that. If we were more aggressive naturally wed get more rotation going.
You can win with conservative if you have a good defense, and we do…But running up the center's a$$ 15 times a game ain't it. You aren't doing your RB, passing game, or OL…Frankly any part of your offense any favors.
