per UM: Official Uniforms for Saturday Night

Same dudes crying about our uniforms are the dudes who wear Teva sandals with their pleated khaki shorts and an ugly t shirt with a fish on it or a short sleeve polo tightly tucked in with a corny belt.

Uniforms have as much impact on the game as banners, chants, color coordinated "____-Outs", pep-rally threads to create 'positive energy' for the team, news clippings of smack talk hung in the locker room, etc.

None of it has any impact on the game. If we lose this game it is all on the coaches. If we win this game it is on the coaches.

Exactly, once the ball is kicked off all the non-sense is just that, it boils donw to coaching and execution.

^ yep, those whacky uniforms are doing wonders for recruiting at Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, Notre Dame, USC, Georgia, Ohio State, Penn State,...

Of those teams you just named off, the only ones in the past few years not to have some kind of special uniform are Auburn, USCw, and Ped State--and even Auburn had special UA War Eagle edition gloves/shoes when they played F$U last year.

Bama has had a Pro Combat uniform with freaking Houndstooth in the numbers and striping.

LSU has tinkered with their helmets and unis over the years via Pro Combats, and have rumored a Black jersey for a while. They just changed their Tiger helmet logo this past year too.

Tennessee had an Adidas "anthracite" Smokey Gray uniform that was a lighter shade of gray than our Smoke uniforms, and have had concepts mocked up of "checkerboard" uniforms too.

Notre Dame has had "Shamrock Series" uniforms, some of which have looked plain odd and certainly non-traditional. And even they mixed in the Green or Gold jerseys before switching from Nike to Adidas and now to UA.

Georgia had Pro Combats that had a helmet stripe coming down onto the facemask.

The Suckeyes have had several throwbacks and Pro Combat special unis, and there's an all-black alternate uni rumored for them as well.

To pile on: you want to talk bout traditional looks being fvcked with, if that's the main issue: ARMY and NAVY have both had alternate uniforms made for them the past few years!!! Navy's new uniform this year is one of the best that UA has made for any team, period.

BOTTOM LINE: Next to no one is safe from uniform changes. ******* deal with it. You can't change it as a fan. If it helps recruiting, great. If the current players like it, great.

^ Fine if you are okay with our tradition and brand being ****ed on but please stop with the "it helps with recruiting" blather. Let me know when we beat out Saban for a recruit because we rocked fresh orange helmets with the clam watermark.

Cool uniforms are probably <1% of getting a recruit. No one talks about how they got drafted because they looked so good in this or that uniform. It's the play on the field and the development of the player that pulls in recruits.

If uniforms truly mattered then no top recruits would play for Maryland, Miss St, Texas AM, Kentucky, Ole Miss, or Virginia.

The kids who PLAY THE GAME chose this. Who gives a flying fart what a bunch of online cry babies have to say about "tradition"? These kids have worked harder to put on that uniform than most of us have worked in our entire lives. Let them wear what THEY want. If it bothers you, then join the team, work hard, and then maybe you can have a say in what they wear. Until then, sit down, relax, and enjoy the results of the HARD WORK these kids have put in. Not you, but the kids. Not you, but the coaches. They are working hard so YOU can have something to enjoy on weekends. If you don't like what they are wearing, go watch the fashion channel. Maybe you'll find something more appealing.

I'm not, but great job at trying to put words in my mouth.

but please stop with the "it helps with recruiting" blather.
I didn't start that blather, others did. All I pointed out is that other squads you touted for their "traditional" looks not hurting them in recruiting have indeed fvcked with their designs over the years, just as much as we have.

Let me know when we beat out Saban for a recruit because we rocked fresh orange helmets with the clam watermark.
I don't think you'll have to worry about that. Besides...I think the point is that it can help with today's kids...not that it's THE one reason we would beat out another school for a recruit.

All of you old-heads bytching about change...do me a favor. Go pick up an Eastbay magazine somewhere. Flip thru it. There's some wild **** in there, and that's a lot of what the kids are wanting to wear. That's the style of today. Alternate colors, different designs, some throwback-type stuff mixed in. I'm not saying you HAVE to have that to draw kids, but it's just one more thing that can help. It doesn't hurt anything, and constant bytching about it isn't going to do anything to change it.

It's 2014 fellas. Adapt to the times..

Oh please. Fly your rainbow flags & march in your parades.. just don't expect us to "adapt" bc of what year it is.

Keep that stuff behind closed doors.

I was talking about a uniform combo...not *** pride. Not sure where you got that from but continue on ranting about something meaningless

Here's the thing. There will be tons of recruits at this game and when you aren't winning, you need something to get them fired up. A uni combo has become the selling point to a lot of recruits oddly enough. And captains pick jerseys
