I don’t disagree that it’s unrealistic and highly unlikely to happen but more so because CMR doesn’t want to give up play calling. Plus he thinks he’s helping out Jon. The reality is that he’s holding Jon back by a) making him a yes man that is not accountable to anyone and b) forcing him to learn and coach an offense that will not benefit him finding another major college job once CMR retires or is fired. Nepotism works when the prodigy is forced to start at the bottom, learn from and be accountable to others not related to them. Jon may flousrish learning and working under someone else. As it is now, he’d be lucky to find a D2 job if CMR is gone.
As for Dugans and Brown, they only have those phony titles so they can be paid more, especially Dugans. I know Brown thinks he’s an OC because CMR let’s him write the plays so he may be a little more difficult to convince, so CMR can make him associate Head Coach. CMR can them focus on what he does best, recruiting the parents, working the administration/boosters and running the program effectively.
CMR can go to Blake James and negotiate hiring a new OC/QB coach If he’s allowed to make Jon a QCA at his current salary, take Co OC title from Dugans and Brown but give them raises and promote Brown to AHC. He may lose Brown but so be it. He will also need a new OL coach. I know this may sound expensive, but Yost currently makes $102k and Briles makes $400K. It may cost the program an additional $1 million a year to get this done, but James did say he would do anything to help CMR succeed.
With Diaz running the Defense and one these guys installing their offense with the talent we have, CMR can make this an elite program and cement his legacy. I know it’s a pipe dream but so is CMR making this anything more than a mediocre program under the current setup.
