Patke costs us another game.

We lost it in a hundred places and if anyone is being honest we didn’t deserve to win.

But Patke should have been fired a long time ago and his not so special teams coaching costs us game after game and needs to be pointed out.
He should have been fired a long time ago, agreed. That doesn't make him the specific problem tonight. How about the HC who let his team come out so undisciplined and apathetic that they got in the hole on the road? How about the players who couldn't get interested in the game until the second half? Whatever, the failure started long before the last possession.

We gave up a 4th and FOURTEEN and left the middle wide open per Manny’s defense. Yes, the ST sucked, but the opportunity was there to win, and the defense collapsed. Someone was WIDE open on a 4th and long to seal the game. I’m not blaming Patke. But he can go too.

Same **** on a weekly basis. Start slow, then have to claw back to win. Didn’t work against UVA. Didn’t work against UNC. Again, we have a coach that doesn’t have his team prepared.

Absolutely. Manny is the head of the snake and the real problem.

I just hate the fact that Patke has been on this staph for so many years and not recruited anyone and been terrible as a position coach. Special teams for Miami have been blessed by Lou and Borregales but we can’t cover kicks, get called for numerous penalties on returns and have muffed more punts than anyone over the last 3 years.

But if you want another fire Manny thread I’m all about that too.

Tbh we should of gone for it. Now I'm not saying it is a bad decision to kick it, but going for it would have been better.

It was 4th and 1 and we were like at the 40-45 yard line. First if we don't get a yard on FSU we don't deserve to win, period. Second even if they get the ball at the 45, they need a touchdown to win, so being close to field goal range does not matter. It actually may help because if they score it should give us time for an attempt to score as well and once you get closer to the endzone it is harder to draw up plays for the TD, especially in the passing game.

Now once they made the decision to punt there is no way you can just look at the returner and stay in front of him. Two guys should always been trained to get behind him for if he doesn't catch it or he muffs it. This is common sense.
I would have had no problem with going for it on that 4th and 2 for the exact reasons you stated. Was it a 4th and 1? I thought Mallory was a little more short of the 1st down.

If memory serves, UM had not run a QB sneak yet with TVD all season. If Lashlee was saving it for a special occasion, that would be it.

HOWEVER, one thing that helps on the sneak is a hard count because you have the opportunity to get them to jump, and the D can't time the count, giving the O a split second advantage. When you have a QB sneak that is almost always enough (not as much when there is a hand off to the RB because it gives the D time to get into the backfield) . UM is so undisciplined and poorly coached that I would bet money that someone on offense would jump on a hard snap count and get a false start.

I’m more of the 4-4 on 4th down and you have the game on the line and you punt it to a defense that has never made a stop when needed. Not to mention the 3 plays we chose to run when we had a chance to put the nail in the coffin. Manny went from dancing and starting a midfield standoff to peeing down his leg in crucial moments.

When Diaz purged so many coaches I was disappointed he kept Patke and actually promoted him. Both his responsibilities have been a thorn, LB and ST. Two things I said were weaknesses before the season started were RB depth and Patke. I got castigated for mentioning RB and Saturday showed how lame we are with one legitimate RB. Love Knighton but we sure could've used another decent RB. Cannot imagine how this team would've performed if TVD had been our QB last year, had a valid RB from the portal and no Patke for ST and LB.

that play had no bearing considering they got a 60 yd play right after.

And LOL @ you thinking he aint teach that...when we literally downed 1 at the one inch line earlier.

For some reason yall are afraid to get on these players....THEY ARENT THAT GOOD!..THEY ARE DUMB ON THE FIELD (REGARDLESS OF COACHING) and are overrated coming in regardless.

I mean im being 100% honest when i say this....WE HAVE FCS LEVEL LB GROUP...NOT GROUP OF 5...FCS. tHAT FALLS ON mANNY dIAZ HE SHOULD BE FIRED FOR THE SIMPLE REASON IS ...ITS HIS UNIT AND THEY BASICALLY ARE NOT A MINIMUM ACC LEVEL. F8ckin Patke has no bearing on this program ...its the bum hc
That you rashad?

The game was lost twice. In the first quarter, and on that last drive when Lashlee shriveled up like he always does, when it matters most.

We missing 2 of our top 3 running backs, Chaney and Harris plus we have 2 highly recruited rbs in the wings. Cant help the injuries.

This was the third time this year that a punt returner dropped the ball on a fair catch with multiple Miami guys surrounding him and we didn’t recover the fumble. What are they teaching these kids?
The tenets of national socialism

Couch nearly let a punt in the endzone earlier in the game. He was catching butterflies with a net and just happened to look down and see a ball bounce into his hands at the 1 yard line.

the punt was bad but I had zero confidence in the D to get a stop from their own 20 let alone on 4 and 14.

There were so many “key” plays to the game and you could easily say the ****** LBer play cost us the game but I look at a special teams play as perhaps the pivotal moment in the game.

Manny is faced with a 4th and about a yard and a half. Go for it and potentially ice the game or kick it and pin them deep.

Manny makes the right call, IMO and decides to let his all American punter pin them deep and force them to drive the length of the field.

Lou kicks yet another perfect punt. The ball hits inside the 20 and the punt returner opts to let it bounce.

Every special teams coach in the country teaches their gunners when the see the fair catch call inside the 20 to run to the goal line and keep that ball out of the end zone.

Couch and Avante Williams stand next to the return guy and watch the ball bounce and run into the end zone.

It was a perfect kick and FSU should have started that drive inside their 5. Instead they get the touchback and then we let a receiver get behind our safeties. The whole final drive was a tutorial on how to get fired as a football coach. That said the special teams *** up set the table.

Patke should be drawn and quartered.
Three straight drive in the 1st quarter we turn the ball over, which eventually resulted in 7 FSU pts

The in 2nd half when we finally get momentum and TVD heats up, we decide to go conservative again...just like the UVA game, and blow what could have been a dagger of a drive, and put FSU away

1st play of FSU last drive we give up a 59 yrd pass
then at 4th and 14 we give up a 24 yrd pass

Stupid to think ST cost us the game....WE cost us the game period.

Poor execution early and then **** poor coaching late, story of the season IMO.

Yup. All those mistakes. And will still win this game if Patke had trained his gunner to properly get to the goal line and pin them at the one.

My point was never that Patke was the sole reason or that anything else was good. It was a cluster****. But Patke is the worst coach we have had on staph since….Paul Williams? Maybe Donofrio?

WTF

So all of those other mistakes are acceptable, but one ****ed up ST play and that's the ball game?

The fans fit right in with everything else that's wrong with this program!

Our punt coverage team just got outsmarted by the FSU punt returner because he didn't call a fair catch. He knew if he didn't they would hang with him and the ball would bounce through the EZ.

The players just aren't good and aren't football savvy prior to UM. You can only teach them so much.. they need a basic knowledge prior to coming here that they don't have.

That's recruiting. That's the vetting process and the decision making process on if you take them or try to get someone else. Not enough vetting being done.
