Past Defense total rankings

From 2007-2010 defense average rank 27.5
High 2007 rank 33
Low 2010 (randy last year) 22

From 2011-2013 defense average rank 79.3
High 2012 rank 120
Low (golden first year) 45

Funny because we thought randy defenses could have did better at that time and many thought we should be top 15 at least. Now our defense has become so bad we are hoping to at least be top 30-50. Now this is not a fire coach D thread because we have plenty of those just thinking how perception has changed over the last few years and the total defense numbers just fell off the earth recently

Canes fans never appreciate what's in front of them. It's always compared against the past. Whether distant or recent. It's the curse of our success. And why we've, for the most part, become such an incredibly spoiled lot. Ken Dorsey was nit picked to death while he was here by many. He left as arguably the best to ever line up under center. Didn't matter. What anyone of us would do now, to have that "weak armed, game manager" back here now.

With that said, those are historically bad numbers put up by these defenses the last 3 years. That speaks more to scheme and the ones running it then to the talent operating it as IMO, equal talent in the previous scheme would "struggle" to the top 30 in total defense in the country. And w/ a defense capable of "struggling" to that ranking, this is a one loss club, w/a ACC championship game rematch already a punched.

wow we were that good under Randy...That's right him and al Share the same amount of ACC hardware in the UM trophy case....

even at 22 or 18 in total d we sucked as a team.....were outcoached etc...do we need to replay some of those Great Defenses that you are posting....go back to the late 80s were our teams and players held other teams to 100 points all year...when us old guys played with heart and losing was painful...not this new ***** soft shouldered generation where losing is okay and twitter & facebook are more important than game film....

The last 10 years this team has sucked, coaches/players and fans...there is one common denominator!
