I do statistical studies on sports as a means for practicing on whatever degree/certification I’m studying for at the moment (more fun and interesting that way) and what I find is that how much a team dominates their opponents is a better predictor than most of the fancy metrics.

As a quick example, look at scores of games that Alabama has against lesser opponents, they’re almost always complete destructions, whereas the pre-Brady LSU games would be closer scores even though they always win.

This is a litmus test game and I believe Miami benefits a lot more by establishing that dominance from game one than they do by “saving anything from film.”

QFT. The good offenses get out and do work. If you are struggling with lesser opponents that is not a good look. Come out, execute, dominate, build confidence and exciting brand of ball. You dont shell up, struggle then say oh yea super offense being saved for fsu/clemson, never works out that way

Disagree. We immediately jump into conference play after this game. You run your playbook. We lost most of spring. I actually believe you show them the diversity of King and enough of the complexity of the passing game that ACC defensive coordinators are going to have to pick their poison. Plus, UAB is pretty darn good G5 team with a very solid defense.

Out of curiosity, where do you get your data?

Before you start stripping game plans down you better make sure you have a good enough game plan( and team) to beat UAB.

I think we will go out guns blazing and THEN and ONLY THEN will Lashlee start turning the offense down if we can get up a few scores.

We haven’t proved we can take anyone lightly yet and until we do we need to approach EVERY game like we are playing Clemson or Bama.

Start proving we are capable of beating the weaker teams convincingly with our best game plans and THEN start toning down and hiding the offense.

Let’s prove we can beat UAB before we start thinking just walking onto the field will get us a win.Its obvious those days are long gone.We all see how well that thinking worked out last year and until we prove we are capable of taking teams lightly we need to go full out against everyone.

We definitely have better talent than most of the teams we will be playing.Now Manny and crew need to show they can coach this better talent To wins on the field and not just paper.

I want us to run the score up on UAB and anyone else we can but my first concern is having one more point that the other team when the final horn goes off something that hasn’t happened much the last couple decades.

I don’t think we call a conservative game but I think Lashlee will attack using very few formations and route combos so we don’t show all our cards against a non conference foe.

we came off 2 bad seasons. We can’t consider any D1 school a cupcake until we return back to our ways full time.

Agreed. I think Rhett will limit the number of different plays called if only to get the offense executing at a consistent basis for Louisville the following weekend. I don’t think anyone is staying don’t run it up because at the end of the day it’s about getting the right players into the right positions offensively. UAB should be an easy victory but we’ve said that before ala FIU, La Tech, etc. Hopefully Lashlee has erased that doubt in the players and has instilled confidence into them to play with the freedom and attitude we will need to become a great team again.
 
I gotta see us play before I go over on this one. I would like to think we can but I'd be happy with a dominant performance where we score over 42 points and shut em out on D. For the first game I think that shows promise.
 
UAB returns most everyone from their team.

They are better than LA Tech, Duke, FIU.

Bill Clark is a very good defensive coach.

Their defense is going to be really good.

I see a 28-13 type game. I think it’ll be an ugly defensive game.

Their offense vanished against good defense's last season. App ran all over them in the bowl game. UAB was up 14-0. App came back and won 31-17.

Did you watch last night game? I thought 45.5 was a slam dunk but both offenses were rus-tay.
