Miami has failed to adapt to the times. This isn’t the 80’s, 90’s, or the early 2000’s anymore. Nobody on this roster was alive or aware of Miami when we were dominating. Miami will never be back to what it was. The time for living in the past is over. The administration has let us down for 20 years, hiring re-treads, going the cheap route, and recycling assistants who had no business being in charge of a major program. Our stadium was imploded with zero plans for a future replacement. Our facilities were light years behind other powerhouse programs. While we were living off the mystique of the past, other programs were investing and adapting. It’s a different world nowadays. Anyone who has teenage kids, or works with them should know what I’m talking about. The mentality is different. Kids respond to criticism and discipline different. There is no dog in anyone anymore. All the greats from the past were a different breed and something we will rarely ever see again. Now, our facilities are catching up to the present. Our coaching is not. We need up and coming assistants who are innovators and know how to adapt not only to the game, but to the players as well. It’s time to let go of the past and digest the fact that it will never be like that again. It’s time to adapt and create a new mystique. Mario has to give up on this old school approach. It’s not gonna work anymore. Even the greatest coach’s have given in to their ways and adapted to the times. Nothing is ever going to change if Mario doesn’t first.

Agree. Will Mario make the necessary changes to adapt? Gattis runs some dated bull**** scheme that requires the perfect personnel in order to be successful. We need a different philosophy on offense. Mario still clinging to a philosophy that was successful in the 80s. That **** won’t work today.

Very well said. Disagree with the dog part about kids today though. I don’t find that to be true. There’s teams all over the country using kids with that “dog” in them. ****, look no further than the other sideline today. The problem is our guys don’t look that way. That’s on coaching. That’s literally a coach’s job. To bring out the best in their players and nurture them into positions to be that dog.

The difference was simple. All the elite kids in Miami stayed home plus we were able to cherry pick from around the nation. We have to give Mario time to do just that. We knew he wasn't the best XOs guy but would hopefully recruit to a level that we could out talent opposition. Gotta give the man 3-4 years before you cut his head off.

I said earlier a coach can fire up his team by yelling in the locker room or whatever it takes. But it's up to the ones with the cleats in the ground to lock-in and do their job on the field. can't blame coaching for everything when we lose. Every single game we lose its all coaching faults on this board. When are we going to hold the kids on the field accountable and realize the ones we have aren't good enough to get it done.. You can bring in the best staff in the nation tomorrow and if we lost the UNC game it would be the coaches fault..

Lol that MTSU team today is not more talented than ours, but their coaching staff knew how to maximize theirs and play to their strengths better than ours did ours. Simple as that

Man I have been saying this for years.

Trying to recreate this mystic that once was is so tiresome. That's why I get so tired of people feeling it's important to have old players on the sidelines and pep talks, blah blah blah. Stop it, that isnt the answer. That was a once in a century or two situation.

Football today is slinging it all around the field, spreading the defense out. Dont practice too hard, very little hitting save yourself for the game and try and out score your opponent. It's basically arena or flag football. I know a lot of you dont want to gear that and still believe oh defense wins championships.
Nope they do not.

Defense is about not talking stupid penalties, not hitting hard. Just trying to stop a team in the redzone is a victory.

The administration & Coaches were GIVEN the EXACT Blueprint to follow....and for 19yrs they've wiped their azzes with it...Time, after time, after time....

We played a team full of 0 and 1 star players today and got crushed. This loss was not because of talent.

It looks like major discord among the coaches and players. Clark saying they should have been prepared better. Receivers getting ****ed at TVD and Resterpo excluding themselves. The fact that the whole team woke up when Garcia came in. Coaches need to be aware and observant of this discord and straighten it out and get it resolved. **** going on like this is how you lose to a lesser opponent. Something stinks.

Everyone looking to blame somebody else. It’s a bunch of cowards.

Well, maybe Mario can have a long conversation with his mentors, Butch and JJ?
