Miami has failed to adapt to the times. This isn’t the 80’s, 90’s, or the early 2000’s anymore. Nobody on this roster was alive or aware of Miami when we were dominating. Miami will never be back to what it was. The time for living in the past is over. The administration has let us down for 20 years, hiring re-treads, going the cheap route, and recycling assistants who had no business being in charge of a major program. Our stadium was imploded with zero plans for a future replacement. Our facilities were light years behind other powerhouse programs. While we were living off the mystique of the past, other programs were investing and adapting. It’s a different world nowadays. Anyone who has teenage kids, or works with them should know what I’m talking about. The mentality is different. Kids respond to criticism and discipline different. There is no dog in anyone anymore. All the greats from the past were a different breed and something we will rarely ever see again. Now, our facilities are catching up to the present. Our coaching is not. We need up and coming assistants who are innovators and know how to adapt not only to the game, but to the players as well. It’s time to let go of the past and digest the fact that it will never be like that again. It’s time to adapt and create a new mystique. Mario has to give up on this old school approach. It’s not gonna work anymore. Even the greatest coach’s have given in to their ways and adapted to the times. Nothing is ever going to change if Mario doesn’t first.
