Our oline.

Do we then try Samson at LT? I’m sure they’ll be trying all sorts of combinations in the spring, we are going to be very young anyway you look at it but there is talent.
Yes. I have a first prediction, but I think everything is on the table. I do think Cantwell is most likely next year’s RT. Other than that, Mirabal has to play Tetris.

Hopefully Cantwell can be average at pass blocking, believe he’s going to be fine run blocking, just need him to hold up in pass protection. Wondering if Congdon or Ervin may be ready for reps at tackle or guard.

I also really liked Buchanan, thought he played mean and with an edge.

My hope is we get Anez Cooper Sophomore year output from either Buchanan or Minaya.

My biggest concerns in order:

1. Mccoy has never played LT for any extended period
2. Rodriguez has never stayed healthy, and no one is behind him
3. Unknown at RG
4. Cantwell in pass block
5. Okunlola getting bored murdering people at LG
Thats the thing that scares me McCoy was the worst o-linemen this season he was getting destroyed in pass pro when we faced good teams and now he's LT on an island. And Rodriguez ever played more than 2 or 3 games before getting hurt and now he's center

The OL group will not be as good as last years.

Will the QB, RB, TE, WR group be better though? Could be.

OL is likely to take a step back BUT the rest improve. The most important is the deep threat which will force teams to back out of the box. Thus, our OL could look better in 26.

I also think that we will see new enrollees in summer if our OL appears to need a starter. Someone will challenge the ncaa in court and win.

People don't understand we didn't NEED seaton. He simply was the cherry on top. Would've been nice. Now his funds he was asking just go elsewhere. It shows he didn't leave deion over development like his people were trying to say. He didn't stay and he didn't follow loadholt and he didn't go to BY FAR the best developer of talent at the position. He chased lane to LSU. It's clearly a money grab. As good as he is we don't need MORE of that mindset being catered to here. We made one exception to that so far this offseason. No more.
Dont think it was a money grab at all. Personally I think if nil didnt exist he would of been committed to Lsu along time ago. We're not going to win them all and its not that surprising to me that a kid attracted to Coach Prime would be attracted to Coach Prime Lite (Lane)

I think Max Buchanan makes a good push in the spring. He’s talented, tough, smart and going into year 2. Everything they want.

McCoy/Samson on the left side with Rodriquez at C, Cantwell at RT and a battle at RG with Buchanan/Minaya/Meriweather. It will be a good group come August.

OL group is the most unsettled heading in to spring. Good news is Mirabel & Mario will piece together a solid group

Yall forget the type of athlete Samson was coming in. He was raw, but dude could move. 6’5 with a 6’10 wingspan. He can hold that LT position down, next man up. McCoy, pretty good run blocker, but needs to improve his pass blocking if he’s gonna be the starting LG. Im not sure what he has trouble with, but he has the size and power.

As long as Rodriguez stays healthy, they can rely on him to hold the C position down. RG will be a battle, Cantwell will be the RT. Add some depth, Broderick Shull and an OG/C.

Your last part begs the question…how mobile is Mensah? I guess I need to rid myself of the stereotype that all black QBs are mobile because I looked up Mensahs rushing yards this year and was a little shocked at how bad it was. I thought he was a Mateer level mobile QB at least but the numbers don’t show that.
I think you have to separate the concepts of mobility and being a running/rushing QB. Mensah is very mobile. But at the same time he rarely runs. Frequently those two things go together, but in Mensah's case they definitely don't.

The threat of Mensah (pray🤞) using his feet already makes teams have to play us differently. That takes some pressure off the OL. Teams can't sell out and vacate 10-12 yards.

I'd expect us to look at the grad transfer space for guys with developed bodies and experience but late round draft grades. We can make it worth their while.

I think our OL is going to be fine and maybe by the end of the season, be a little better as a unit. We had a good OL this year with some aircraft carriers, but weve got room to be just as big with more athleticism and better feet across the line that may allow us to do more on offense. We can definitely improve what we do outside of the phone booth our OL gave us this year.

What we just saw was literally v1.0 of The Wall of Mirabal at Miami. What comes next is better...might take a minute and enough Games Played together as a unit to figure out and see it more clearly...but I believe the worry over our OL will be worrying about nothing.

My best guess...

LT- Okunlola
LG- McCoy
C- Rodriguez
RG- ??? (Buchanan/Merriweather/SJ...)
RT- Cantwell

Okunlola is probably our best athletic profile for LT, notwithstanding the way he dominated late at LG and the urge to keep him there. Expecting big things there. McCoy at LG is a solid veteran. Rodriguez at C is limited and injury-prone, but serviceable when healthy. I'd have expected Kinsler in line for the RG spot, that's a loss. Who knows what we get there. Never optimal to start a TF at OT, but Cantwell at RT looks very promising. Some growing pains to be expected, but his size, strength and flexibility will allow him to be molded into a monster. OT depth and C makes me most nervous.

Mirabal and Mario have their work cut out for them to get this line to approach 2025, 2023, or 2024 levels. But this is what these guys do, so I don't think it's unreasonable to expect improvement from these players and for people to step up.
