And if things go well, he can demand more money from his next school. There's absolutely no reason not to play this for everything he can get.If his agent is smart? Absolutely. Get all the money now when they think the HC might leave and he has maximum leverage. Things could go south in a hurry (look at Dan Mullen). Golden got hired in 2010, one year later he got a contract extension when he flirted with PSU. Mark Richt got hired in 2016, immediately after the 2017 season he got a big contract extension. Happens all the time.
I was indifferent, but having read their message boards for a week...Root for a Utes win this weekend
I don’t think we scare nor make anyone nervous at this point. Our history is the only thing even keeping us mildly relevant.
Love how that guy said he read on ESPN that we’re in debt.
Was that a dream???? Because he conjured that up out of thin ******* air.
We are nowhere near in debt. Richt retiring, walking away, and choosing to forgo the rest of his salary helped us immensely.
Now I kinda want us to land Mario just to spite these ********. Yes, I'm petty.View attachment 161802
A few more posts like these and I'm asking @Andrew to change the name to MensaInsight.com
Of course, then Tom Herman would be the frontrunner, because he's an actual Mensa member.
Exactly. If Miami was truly a **** hole you wouldn’t have all these other teams boards talking about our HC search and the current guy hasn’t even been fired yet. As a team today, we scare no one but if we do hire Mario or Lane the narrative will flip instantly.Your missing the point my friend… it’s the potential of what can be built. It’s that sleeping giant you don’t want to awaken when a competent coach and staff comes along.
Don’t let these betas fool you… we are talked about in many many schools message boards right now…they want to make fun of us but deep down it’s that nervous laughter…
They were bad candidates to begin with & it was easy to see, but guess why they still got the job anyway?Take away Mario is from Miami, for a second, and ask yourself, is he still the among the best candidates that is willing to listen to us? Absolutely! The fact that he’s even willing to listen (he’s seriously interested according to some plugged dudes) is very, very, telling about the situation.
Overall, I agree with your point about hiring the best candidate and forget the “miami connection”; however, I don’t think that concept applies with Mario. Coker, Randy, Richt (ready to retire) and Diaz were bad hires not because of the “miami connection” but because they were bad candidates to begin with.
Mario could fail miserably at Miami and no one could argue Miami was dumb for hiring him. Personally, I think Mario would build something greater than what Lane or anyone else could because of his skills, principles, experience and passion for this city and program.

Same people her were fighting that Golden would stay and say no to PSU. Lol dude would of left in a heart beatI boggles my mind everytime I read or hear people talk about Mario's loyalty to Oregon and Knight for the HC job, wtf. Why does giving him his first P5 HC deserve more loyalty than the place that gave him an opportunity to play college ball at the highest level and win titles. That same place is the place where he started his career as a freaking coach. Every opportunity he has now started at Miami but he has to be loyal to Oregon apparently smh. Dude did his job, he's rebuilt the respectability in the Oregon job that was Helfrich turned to trash and has stock piled them with talent for the next guy. He doesn't owe them ****...he's not there stealing checks like Norvell is.
To me our problems have been evaluation and development. They were bad candidates to begin with & it was easy to see, but guess why they still got the job anyway?
Mario’s Miami connection are not why I prefer Lane, I think Mario is a good coach, but I don’t think what he wants to do here will work in the same time frame because it’s a different dynamic than what was required at Oregon.
Also, the Miami connection for Cristobal has a back end effect that if it works could be something that maintains us being a good program for years down the line, but in the event it doesn’t work we’d be stuck with him because the emotional ties are so strong that regardless of performance he’d be an immovable object that can never be fired.
People are buying high on emotion & selling low on every other aspect, I don’t think either Mario or Lane are championship coaches, but one of them has an formula that is more translatable to the immediate future & the other is predicated on recruiting at a high level in a way that is much more difficult to do in Miami because there’s way more competition.
When USC is down (which they’ve been for the last 4 years), a program like Oregon that has upped it’s recruiting budget & is in the top 13 in spending can dominate West Coast recruiting & load up. Miami’s recruiting is directly tied to the product on the field, if we don’t win the recruits don’t come, so in order to recruit at an optimum level we have to win & win ASAP. What’s fastest way to win, (especially in the ACC)? High octane offense & high level QB play (see Wake, Pitt, etc) so I’m more inclined to lean in that direction because I believe Mario’s style play allows for teams that aren’t as good as yours to hang around in the game cause it’s more about ball & clock control.
At the end of day, I’ve heard & (already thought of) every reason on Earth plus 10 more as to why Mario is the 2nd coming of Christ himself & God help us I hope he is, but until I actually see it here, I’m just not gonna believe that’s how it happens & it’s not because of him or anything like that, I’m just not going to allow emotions to cloud my judgment & fall for fairytales. I think Mario is a great coach, but I’m not going to suddenly transform him into something I don’t think he is just because he might come here.
And I don’t think Lane is the 2nd coming either, in fact I was pretty heavily against Lane coming here like 3 years ago, but given the current circumstances & the landscape of college football I think he’s the best pick for right now. Maybe he won’t be in 2 years & if not I won’t advocate for him, but right now I think he is.
New information can present new perspectives. I’m not actually all-in on any candidate, I’ve just given who I think works for the near future & if they don’t, guess what I’ll do? Change my opinion because I’m not a stubborn fool.
Would have?Same people her were fighting that Golden would stay and say no to PSU. Lol dude would of left in a heart beat

Why do all these ******** think we can't afford to hire a top coach & assistants? We have a few guys with big pockets & that UM medical $ is long af.
A slideMiami is not getting a stadium and other than additional support staph and some righteous bags for recruits and players, what other facilities does Miami lack?
Well said broThey were bad candidates to begin with & it was easy to see, but guess why they still got the job anyway?
