The difference is people want to crown Herman now after two years yet dump on Richt, forgetting that they will probably have identical W-L records for their first two years as head coaches when the season is over. Richt won the SEC title and beat FSU to finish #3 in the country in year 2, Herman just lost to SMU and Navy. Time can change a lot of perceptions. If it turns out he's awesome, great, then he wasn't fools gold. At this point it's still too early to find out if year one was real or a fluke and this year is a better measure of his Savageness. Big programs like Texas can take a risk and pay a relatively unproven coach crazy amounts of money because if he turns out to suck, they can afford the buyout in year 2 or 3and turn around and hire another expensive coach. If Miami swings and misses on a 5 million dollar coach and owe him 15 million if you fire him, best start looking for high school coaches who want to coach D1 cuz that's all we'll be able to afford. Miami needed a low risk coach with an established track record. That being said Richts success in his first two seasons as a head coach (SEC title) are more impressive than Hermans even assuming Herman (American conference title) wins the rest of his games this season.

He's approaching the end of his tenure at Houston. That's exactly the definition of a political lame duck.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure part of Houston's pitch to getting Herman to stay was that they anticipated getting into the Big 12. So, the vote to not expand is a double-whammy to Houston.

It will be interesting to see if Herman is "the next great one".

Jerrod Evans is 10 times the QB Kaaya is so this answer is easy. One QB has 2k yards passing 63% 21 tds 2 int and almost 500 yards rushing and 4 tds. Its not even close.
