Shipping will always be the life blood of trade.

The money is near the water whether it be oceans, seas, or rivers.

I pi$$ off the Californians that say they are the 5th largest economy in the world (I don't wish harm on anyone, but I love trolling people) and I tell them that in a world where most of our economy depends on the movement of goods over water California benefits from being on the body of water where we get most of our cheap goods. If California fell into the sea tomorrow a new coast would be pop up tomorrow. You all wouldn't be missed.

Cali is what it is

And really... How can you **** someone off with a unlikely scenario that has 0% probability of actually happening?

Might be top 3 socialist economies. :haha-smiley:

Many people mistakenly think it is a real probability. Having said that, it's not about whether it will or not, it's about kicking them off their high horse.

Well not exactly disappearing under the sea but the big one can fvck'em up real bad... if it happens.

I’m in Covington north of the lake and I might have gotten enough rain to fill up a 40.

Other areas did get a shtload though...was. Vegas last week for two earthquakes now I come home to a hurricane albeit a very small one...

A "Big One" has happened on numerous occasions over the last few decades and century......and Cali is still there standing there as prosperous as ever

Earthquakes are so common there EQ proof building codes are severely enforced and architects and engineers have advanced building and civil infrastructure design to the point that those hoping for another SF 1906 type disaster will ALWAYS be disappointed.

Of course ANYTHING can happen as no one controls mother nature.

NYC, Philly, D.C. and Boston can be hit by a Hurricane. Phoenix can be buried in a dust storm, New Orleans can disappear completely under flood waters....and there's the always popular giant dinosaur killing meteor striking again...

Odds are that you'll be struck by lightning ...before Cali disappears or is badly crippled by an earthquake ...or Any of those other "It could happen" type earth shattering natural disasters happen that TV documentaries try to use to scare you with.

You want something to fear that is really going to happen? Fear Global warming.

That is the real developing global disaster that will with 100% certainty wreak havoc worldwide like you or your children have never seen before.

I'm not going to argue with anyone about it ...because you'd have to be an idiot to ignore reality & the facts of its existence...and I don't argue with idiots.

For some ungodly reason it's been politicized...as if that changes reality or the facts ....on an issue that even the Oil Companies now agree is happening....now that to me is truly amazing

So believe whatever you want ....but know this ...your beliefs won't change the facts

A big one is happens, but they're worried about THE big one. Down here we've gotten a few big ones in terms of big ones. Irma recently, Andrew. THE big one would be Hurricane Andrew making landfall over downtown Miami. Imagine all the buildings in downtown Miami looking like the Burger King building. THE big one out there would be a massive earthquake where Downtown LA or San Fran or completely destroyed.

Sure sure.......just saying it might happen doesn't make it so ....I can also imagine irrational, highly improbable devastating events too ....like a campfire set by Girl scouts spreading and engulfing the entire Appalachian mountains and suffocating the entire East Coast ...or a Mega Shark swallowing an entire Carnival cruise liner ......but carry-on....keep on waiting, waiting, waiting for something that will in all likelihood never happen:6fps6:

I've got real things to worry about .....like is my Cajun dinner being cooked to perfection and correctly seasoned. I have yet to find a GREAT Cajun restaurant outside of Louisiana or Texas

LA, SF and Miami will survive

The fact that the words "Hurricane" and "Barry" are both in the title of the thread, I thought this was going to be another thread about whether or not our Offensive Line is going to suck this year. After sifting through the first 17 post, I can honestly say I have no **** clue as to what this thread is about!

There have been 4, cat. 5 hurricanes to hit the US and 3 have hit Florida, 2 South Florida. Irma was projected to be a borderline cat. 5 and come right over South Florida. We got lucky that the steering currents continued its track to the west and over Cuba and weakened it before going north or the Keys could have been worse. We have had about a dozen cat 4 storms in Dade and Monroe county.

LA and San Fran won't be ok. Even if the big one doesn't get them, they'll be neighboring Anchorage thanks to movement of the earth's crust.

Heh I can't tell you what to do...you want to keep waiting for imaginary improbable events....that's on you.....knock yourself out

I've got real things to worry about

Sorry but LA and SF moving up to Anchorage anytime in the foreseeable or unforeseeable future will never be one of them.

Have a good one
