OT - The Irishman

That's my single favorite movie as well, I'm not sure if it's underappreciated but nobody ever talks about it.

Maybe my favorite subtle scene from any of his films.

The finishing line about the kids carrying his mother’s groceries all the way home out of respect is so great.

Sad what has happened to Val kilmer though....most People dont realize what an amazing actor he is. However...his issue is that he is one of the biggest azzholes you will ever find.....and it affected a former amazing career.
True story....I actually did some work with a Studio in North Miami Beach years ago and talked to a few about Who they loved to work with...and who they hated to work with.
Almost unanimously they all had stories about how terrible Val Kilmer is and stuff. I was floored and the stories were crazy.

From what I can understand, he can’t even speak now due to cancer.

He’s supposed to have a cameo in the Top Gun coming out next year.

Will be interesting to see how they pull it off.

Did anyone notice Steven Van Zandt - Silvio from the Sorpanos - played the singer at the award celebration party?

We were looking and did not notice.
Thanks for that.

Did anyone recognize the actress who played "Jo" Hoffa?
She was the "hick" babysitter in Goodfellas.

Also, the JFK stuff always fascinates me. David Ferrie was represented(?) in the film, who some believe he was involved in the conspiracy to kill Kennedy. In the movie JFK, Ferrie was played by....Pesci.

Definitely not close to the great mob movies. Not the Godfather, GF2, Casino or Goodfellows by a long shot. 200 million dollars to make. Not impressed.

Heat was Michael Mann's best work by far. De Niro and Pacino were fine in it, but not even close to work in their much younger years. The only work since 1980 I have loved with Pacino was Donnie Brasco. He was fantastic, but also liked him in Angels in America. Otherwise he's been on autopilot. Obviously you have Serpico, dog day's afternoon, the unforgettable over the top scarface, carlitos way, and godfathers.

De Niro was surprisingly good in the Joker and Silver linings playbook. Otherwise he has some absolute monolith-level performances in taxi driver, Raging Bull, Kings of Comedy, and deerhunter. Fantastic in Casino, mean streets, Jackie Brown, once upon a time in America, goodfellas.

Their performances in Heat were cool in the sense of them sharing a scene together for the first time. Other than that, it was all Michael Mann.

It’s not that noticeable except for one scene involving a supermarket.

They did a good job with it.

It pretty dope...what makes it not believable is the the movement of the actors they're 40-50 year olds but move like 70 plus year olds.

Still a great movie

Scorsese has directed the best movie imo from every decade since the 70s

70s- Taxi Driver
80s- Raging Bull
90s- Reservoir Dogs
2000s- The Departed
2010s- The Wolf of Wall Street
