OT Paul Chryst fired at Wisconsin

This one was interesting because my mind switched everything in it to Mario and the ACC. As I alluded to before, we'd get absolutely crushed in the media but I also wondered how our fanbase would feel if this was Cristobal's resume in 6 or 7 years too (not that the ACC will still necessarily exist and obviously the divisions won't- but you get my drift).

Long odds for whoever Wisconsin hires to replicate Paul Chryst's record there as a head coach.

But, I can understand decision makers thinking the best is behind him and getting further away by the game and instead of dragging this inevitable divorce out for years, possibly...best to just cut bait now.

Those decision makers really need to nail the next hire.

I still think Chryst is a good coach, but maybe he's secretly burned out and lost a few mph on his fastball. Its possible.

Might end up like Neb when they fired Bo Pelini.. We will see

Leonard has been a HC candidate for awhile. Maybe even HC-in waiting at Wisconsin, albeit unofficially and privately. Wisconsin wants more than above average results and is giving him his opportunity now. As good as Chryst has been, he was never going to deliver better than he has. Why wait? Money? The new TV deals give them the budget.

Would not be good enough for a lot of fans. Not close.

Yeah man, I thought Bret was going to be a hack there after last yr, but my goodness; this is the best Illinois team since that Rashard Mendenhall group. And I’m not talking record, but legit how they play. They should be undefeated, but got a bit hosed in that Indiana game by some convenient missed calls.
Brian Hightower says hi.

He’s another example of a coach having a bad first year then fixing it in year 2. We’re going to be ok with Mario.

Monumentally stupid move by UW. Guy was 67-26 (.720) in his time there. Recent years haven’t been as good as his first few, but they’re not landing a better coach than him.
Sounds like us when we fired Coker...but Coker had a better record.

Lol wtf is Wisconsin doing

I’m from Wisconsin and got a few friends who are big Badgers guys…the overall stats are misleading, the trend downward has been clear. Whether or not they become Nebraska…who knows…but they’ve got a pretty good track record up there and they don’t see themselves as an 8-4 type of program. The post that lumped them in with Purdue or whatever is idiotic, and probably someone that doesn’t watch any college football and gets their news from ESPN.

They all think they’re getting Leopold because of the Wisconsin roots, and honestly I think this is the perfect landing spot for him (makes more sense than Nebraska, whose track record doesn’t hold a candle to Wisconsin’s over the last ~20 years, or Auburn or whatever).

If Leonhard gets passed up for an opportunity as HC (not interim status)....he gone.

And I know the perfect place for him...even though DC goes to Charlie if/when Steele bolts.

Leonhard likely winds up replacing Narduzzi at Pitt....he's gotta be one of the next coordinators to get a HC job.

Maybe Gattis would take the HC job at Wisconsin...offensive concept would definitely match the personnel
He might be the DC in Baltimore honestly

Do we really think that the stellar performance of our offense - if it continues as it’s been - is going to generate excitement in the HC hiring world and Gattis will be poached by a school on Wisconsin’s level???

I caught the second half of the game. I was like **** they crushing Wisconsin. Those two backs are serious and the wide receiver room is solid

It would certainly be an improvement from the last 15 years.
