They probably did that so the don't lose Leonard but Cryst is also an alum.

Actually, if you follow the program, this makes sense (aside from the buy out). They are built on defense and a running game. The D has mostly held up their end, but the OL has deteriorated over multiple years. And they've never been able to recruit and develop any part of the pass game. Mertz was supposed to be the savior, but he just didn't pan out.

Wisky looks just like Iowa right now. And I've been wondering what Iowa will do with its staff. Maybe between Nebraska, Wisky, and Iowa we see an arms race for new coaches in the Big 10 West.

Imagine the possibilities if we were good. with all these teams playing bad and coaches getting fired left and right we could be talking about what recruits to poach.

Overreaction to getting embarrassed at home by Bielema/Illinois.

They’ve definitely been a little disappointing the last 4 years or so but I don’t think canning Chryst is wise, especially this early in the season.
They’ve gone 8-5 (2nd in division), 10-4 (won division), 4-3 (Covid shortened season), 9-4 (2nd in division) while winning 3 out of 4 of their bowl games in last four seasons. Not sure I would call that disappointing for them
