OT: Mike Tomlin and USC

His Sean Payton/Andy Reid comment was weird. Is he trying to make it a race thing? If those dudes’ names would be tied to a rumor about a school gig, of course they would be asked

No Bama has never had a Black HC.

In fact, there have only ever been 5 in the history of the SEC:
- Sylvester Croom at Miss St
- Joker Phillips at Kentucky
- James Franklin at Vandy
- Kevin Sumlin at TAMU
- Derek Mason at Vandy
Shocked that miss state is on that list. Vandy twice is easy money. Tamu not bad Kentucky meh. But Georgia bama tennesse ole miss auburn would all surprise me

My thought was that the Corleones on the USC Board of Trustees were going to offer Urban the job once JAX let him go.

Poor Mario Cristobal: so close to USC, so far from God.

Pure speculation on my end, but I am feeling a return to uf by Meyer..heck, they may even look at Cristobal.

Tomlin would be legendary in Miami. But that is a Pookie I’m-a-get-clean pipe dream.

His resume speaks for itself. He will never be anything other than an NFL head coach or retired.

I give him credit. You also have to credit the rock solid organization around him. They evaluate well. They hire well. Their culture is authentic, consistent, and embraced. He's part of that, but some of it existed prior to his leadership. Steelers fans should be grateful for a well-run organization. It's difficult to put that together.

At the same time, they could have hired ANYBODY.

They chose HIM.

Just like we get to see with BB now, let’s see how he does without a HOF QB.

You got to remember though. Hall of Fame quarterbacks destroy franchises when they leave.

They win you games but keep you always picking at the end of rounds. It adds up over time. They last longer than any position besides kicker.

Those guys always leave franchises bereft of talent. Bellichek was a magician keeping productive players around Brady. They are in rebuild mode. Doesn’t take anything away from his accomplishments.

He'd have an offer from every NFL team with an opening (and some willing to make an opening) within an hour.

I'm probably coming off as some fanboy of the guy in this thread too but it's just the truth of the matter despite any of his gameday flaws.

He might have those offers but he's acting as if he's above college football and that's my point.

Tomlin doesn't get enough credit. He has a 148-81 record (65% winning percentage) in the NFL. The only guys with a winning % that high with that many games are George Allen, George Halas, Don Shula, Paul Brown and Bill Belichick.
Yup, has never had a losing season. If AB and Bell weren't divas and Ben wasn't a fat sack of ****, he might have another ring.

First, you’re far from a fan boy, @Tad Footeball, for me, you’re one of best posters on this board; second, obviously I’m not an English/or grammatical major, but dude you’re putting the read together in layman’s term!! Thank you 🙏🏼!!

And yes, the day he leaves Pittsburgh, he’ll have an offer from every NFL team from the jump.

Maybe he believes his current position is? Some guys value the NFL over college believe it or not. He did start at the college level but he's been a NFL guy for 20 years, has no ties to USC. When he got into coaching, maybe the NFL was always his end goal.

I get all that but don't get mad at a question as if they're disrespecting you by asking it.

I mean the dude is in his 14th season with the team and he's getting ready for a big divisional game this week. I can see why he would be annoyed, especially if the rumors are bull**** to begin with.

Name a coach whose been a HC in the NFL as long as him and jumped to college? It just doesn't happen so it was stupid question to ask.

I think

LOL, the NFL IS above CFB, so He has every right to turn His nose up at the question.

The only way I would consider the USC job if I was Tomlin, is if USC agrees to pay TRIPLE my buyout in the event that I was fired, but we know that ain't happenin'.
