Obviously, the shooter possibly being a Democrat has you worried, being such a loyal Pelosi person...The same Nancy Pelosi who wanted Devin Nunes fired from the intel committee because he was exposing the FBI of doing political work for Democrats. Heck, the Democrat talking points were that criticism of the FBI was out of bounds and "not supporting Law Enforcement."

Lo and behold we now find out the FBI had a solid tip on Nikolas Cruz FIVE months ago and totally botched it: Seventeen People might be ALIVE today if a political orginization masking as a "Law Enforcement" agency did THEIR jobs.

So please ask your favorite Nancy if it is okay to criticize the FBI now...Just do it before your usual muff diving session (so I can try to get out of your head before you do your favorite deed).

Look at the NRA parrots on this site that have tried to shift this argument into "gun abolishment" . They've read so many email forwards and watched so much fox news they can't even do any basic critical thinking without immediately repeating talking points and trying to shift the argument. They're just programmed to be this stupid. It's sad really. They're not even getting paid to be shills. Puppets.

I think this is a major cultural issue that has formed over the last decade plus. We've devolved into a society, especially amongst the younger generation, that needs instant gratification, constant attention, and incessant positive reinforcement, and by and large are more physically and emotionally detached from their communities around them.

Basically people have become incapable of dealing with rejection and imperfection. I think it's a combination of social media, a culture of victimization pushed at multiple levels (media, schools, government, etc.), and a crumbling communal/family structure that is leaving many at the outskirts of society. To combat this, we either by and large ignore warnings signs of mental illness, blame politicians or interest groups or video games or whatever flavor of the month it is we don't like, or simply hop kids up on drugs to suppress these issues.

Look at how people talk to people on twitter. One of the victims, her father was out searching for her yesterday and was interviewed by the PBP begging people to call him if they knew where she was, and people were wishing death on his daughter because he was wearing a Trump shirt. It's insane how detached people have become.

Guns to me are not the issue, they are merely a tool being used by these aforementioned individuals to carry out acts of heinous violence. Preventing this dude from getting his hands on an AR-15 does nothing to address why he felt the need to do what he did, or why the multitude of other individuals we've seen carry out acts of violence have done the same, or why college kids feel the need to film themselves shoving tide pods down their throats, etc.

I reread it twice and you didn't say anything on how to stop this. I read why you think it happens but nothing on how to prevent it. Also since you blame social media, media etc, why haven't other 1st world countries had a bunch of school shooters or any?

Go read John Lott. He's done a lot of research and would disagree with you about causation. In fact, gun violence in Britain was even lower before their gun laws.

Isn't AR-15 semi-automatic as are many hunting rifles? It's designed to look military, though.

No, but it could stop the ******* mass murder, couldn't it? Right now thats called progress.

If you make it impossible for a HS student to be able to get a gun at all, then that is better than nothing because it would mean a decrease in kids showing up to their HS with guns and being able to murder 10+ and ****.
Like, something is better than nothing. Nobody is saying we should only control the sale of guns and not pay any attention to mental illness.
