Was killed in a boating accident

For anyone who doesn't know, he was one of the best pitchers in baseball and was only 24

Just saw that..Wow..way too young and yes definitely one of the best pitchers (young or not) in the game.
RIP

Madness. Was to start today, but was pushed back to Monday. Have to think he isn't on a boat last night if he is to pitch the 1:10 game today.

******* A.

****ing A.

Thoughts the same thing. That's happened to me in the professional world before. Had a kid I had to suspend because of a policy I didn't agree with a 2 nights later when he should have been to work was shot and killed in a robbery attempt. Sticks with me forever. And this will with someone in management for the Marlins. So sad.

Heard they ran into some rocks off Miami Beach and 3 ppl in total was killed...

I remember going to watch him pitch against my high school alma mater. I seen him twice, and both times it was amazing to watch a 17 yr old command the mound the way he did. Most were saying he was the best pitcher from Tampa since Doc Gooden....

Sad stuff. Saw that the Marlins cancelled today's game and that the Dolphins were going to have a moment of silence. If it couldn't get any worse, apparently his girlfriend is pregnant too. Saw someone post this great story about him and his grandmother:

Even as a die hard Mets fan, I'm stunned and extremely saddened by this. This kid was a stud and made it fun to watch a Mets Marlins game. RIP to Jose and best wishes to his friends and family

This is unreal. May God rest his soul. How in the **** did that boat run into the jetty? Been in the those waters plenty of times only thing I can think of poor running lights at night. This is devastating a 24 year old kid already achieving greatness.

Woke up to this devastating news. Stunned is an understatement to say the least. A good kid and phenomenal talent gone way too soon.

Dude competed like all athletes should. Always left it all out on the field and wasn't afraid to wear his emotions on his sleeve. Condolences and prayers to his family and friends. R.I.P.
