Why not? Conferences shouldn't be completely governed at every turn by the NCAA.

People always complain about the restrictive oversight of the NCAA. This is a great example of a conference having some autonomy in its rules within conference.

People complain about the incompetence and unequal oversight of the NCAA. Allowing conferences to set their own standards on this kind of stuff only exacerbates the overall dog and pony show- especially when everyone on the conference and NCAA level still gives lip service to the grand notion of "student-athletes".

Richt = too nice, you don't want to play for a guy who isn't a savage

Riley = guy is a prick, you don't want to play for a guy who puts the program first

Should the NCAA also set admission standards across the board for every institution to follow? Wouldn't that help set the "equal playing field"too? That way certain schools can't say say no to a recruit who has gained the necessary admissions for the Clearinghouse, but not a particular school.

Maybe set standards the amount of money each school can allot to their facilities, to include their stadium. Maybe that would work also.

Maybe determine their uniforms and shoes selections also.

There are far greater concerns than this.

How many championships has this created for the Big 12?

One could argue it hurts the Big 12 more than it helps. So nobody in the conference benefits from this.

And he's also getting paid to be the face of the program, which blocking a transfer makes him look petty and will probley cost him a recruit or two.

At least now you agree that he should put the program first. Apparently he has decided that losing a phantom recruit is better than letting a QB go to a conference opponent.
