Are Croats really Italians? Had a Crostian friend who told me their heritage was Italian.

Strangely, most of the Italians north of Rome were wiped out centuries ago and replaced by Lombards. Not sure how many “Italians” are actually such. Sicily is mixed up blood of Greeks, Arabs, Normans(Danes in reality) and Italians. Lots of cross blood in Balkans so could be your Croat friend is right. We Americans are not the only mutts in the world.
