OT: Diversity

Great thread! Really impressed with the quality of posters on the site, and surprised by how many are ex military and in IT.

As for me, I was born in Cuba, raised in and still live in South Florida, late 50's ****** male ("JEWBAN"), attended the "U" on a scholastic scholarship. Started out as a CPA and international auditor, and was fortunate to travel the world on expense account when it was a much simpler place. Would not want to do that now. I have been a private banker/financial advisor for many years, a career which I absolutely love.

Long time fan and ticket holder, and I guess an unintentional *********, since I attended all of the Shannon and Golden era games. REALLY looking forward to this season.
I used to go see all of the South Florida teams live, but over the years, I have lost interest in all except the Heat and the Canes.

I do love to tailgate, and I already know a number of posters on this site, and hopefully will meet many more this season.

African and American, at life's golden anniversary, Bull City born, Morehouse College grad, NCCU grad, and Howard University grad, Ph.D. in History, research, teach, and write about the African and African Diaspora history including the construction of and politics of racial identity, which makes this thread a treasure for me! LOL! Also teach US History. Community activist and youth coach for basketball (mainly) and more recently football. Currently on faculty at a university in NC. Been a Cane since '83 when I saw the Canes play Duke at Wally Wade. Canes hung 35 or 42 on them by halftime. Been hooked since. I generally say that if people don't know that I'm a Cane, then they don't know me. Silver and Black at the NFL level. Been on that train since the 70s. Played basketball in my youth, as almost all kids did growing up on Tobacco Road, but not as big of a fan of the game today because iso and the two-man game have taken over at all levels. The fluid poetry of motion in basketball offenses has become a bunch of statues who line the perimeter swaying back and forth waiting for the man with the ball to make a juke move or jack a three. Like many folks I watch the Championship round games and the NCAA tournament.

UKnowWhat when were you at Morris Brown?

To the Cane flashing his bank balance, please give toward the IPF. LOL.

Firefighter, from the muck, male, Caucasian, Canes phins heat Marlins.

Got some friends from the Muck... Alonzo Allen and Leonard and Lionel Campbell... went to school with them in Atlanta.

Im in Atlanta. Where about did you go to school?

We are both at life's Golden Anniversary so I'm guessing we both got to the AU in August of 84. I had a friend from Daytona at Morehouse around the same time... Craps

jaycane yeah man those were crazy times growing up there. My uncle knows the Rolle family very well.

How is life out in Killeen? I never got to get stationed or visit there. I was stuck out in Benning and Bragg.

Killeen is OK, ain't nothing like the bottom though. Because its a military town the diversity here is CRAZY!! but you should know that being in Savannah and Columbus. I find it funny when I stop at a light in Texas and folks see the Ibis on my license plate and throw up the U, and I can't throw it back up because its too **** hard to throw it up while driving.

Indeed, I did arrive in August '84. Great memories from that period. I took a course at MB while at Morehouse and one of my best friends from Oakland who entered Morehouse with me just finished Morris Brown last May. What was your friend's name? There was a Brother from Daytona who drove a white Toyota Supra if I recall. He transitioned while we were still in undergrad though - freak auto accident killed he and his girlfriend (Spelman student). I can't remember his name.

Did you travel - Virginia Beach Party, Black College Week in Daytona, Mardi Gras, Freaknik, etc.?

Great thread, @UknowWhat

Cuban. Lawyer. Miami born and raised. Earliest Canes memory is Kevin Williams returning a punt for a TD against Penn State. Drew a picture of it for first grade art class.

Currently live in Miami Beach. Canes, Heat, Marlins, Dolphins and UFC.

Do you recall what grade you got on the project?

Art is not my strong suit.

BC undergrad - Phil
UM Med Sch - work at JMH and SCCC
Definitely liberal by CIS standards
My dad took us to the Friday night games in the Ted Hendricks era (Vince Opalsky anyone?)
Love the diversity at JMH, and am pleasantly surprised by it here.

Also surprised Brock is AA. Thought he was white like me , excuse the pun.

MovingZen>white>computer programming and repair>ex Navy>born and raised in Miami but now live in Charleston SC> lifelong Dolphins and Canes fan but also like the Heat and Marlins. I've considered giving up on the Dolphins and just becoming a Carolina fan because wtf is the problem with that organization? Anyway, cold beer or whatever you're drinking to all my fellow Canes fans!

Also in Charleston. *** from Miami originally. Radiologist. Die hard Hurricane. Love the Heat, Dolphins, Yankees and Marlins.

I'm in Charleston as well

We need to have some Charleston Miami watch parties.

I'm just visiting for a bit until y'all come play in Boone but thought I'd throw in a little extra diversity.

Female, old, white, CPA. Born in Alabama and have lived in NC the past 52 years. There are three seasons at our house - tax season, football season, and (the toughest of all) waiting for football season.

Cane fan from the 561 area code growing up. I've live one house from the ocean, on top of a mountain, and on the plains between....give me the mountains one day. Currently outside of Indianapolis as my little ones grow for her family. I'm a white male, run a post office after running a DirecTV contracting company....neither of which had much to do with what I went to school for. Far more family time this way.

We can do that, also caravan up to Duke and NC games or down to FSU game this year. I'm very much about watching my Canes football, basketball, and baseball!

Male, Retired from USAF after a Security Forces/C2 career, with 11 years of it in SOF support. Now work as a Government Special Security Officer. Originally from Long Island, NY, moved to SW Fla and turned on to the 'Canes in '79 (hence the moniker) because they PASSED the ball. Now live in SW Ohio and detest O$Uck more than pretty much anybody (yes, was down for the '11 game, loved flying back in my 'Cane gear). Son and Daughter in Law are both UM grads. White because of my Irish descent...offended by Notre Lame's cultural appropriation of my grandparents heritage...'Canes kicking the ever loving $#!+ out of the Domers this season would ease my disgust!
