For a young guy like me I wanna know did Miami recruit him or interested in him as he went all the way to Oregon State?

Grades and off field. There was a time previous we may have finagled a way to get him in but not by the time he was entering college. There are a *lot* of incredibly talented South Florida guys that never came to UM because of grades, etc. And some never made it to college at all.

Oh, what could have been. I still laugh every time I think of the Herald recruiting diaries. 🤣

Yeah, reading that Kiper interview, sounds like He didn't start taking academics seriously until He got to OSU. Would've been nothing for Butch to send Him to Hargrave for a year if He showed at least half an interest in academics.

Shǐt was wild pre 9/11 ( & post got even crazier / note the return / rise of Bama / LSU / Ol Pïss etc ) coincided perfectly with this Wild West environment.
 
Funny thing is Chad didn’t even go to juco out of high school. He went to Langston, which is a HBCU in Oklahoma. He red shirted and got into a fight and got kicked out. Then he left to Cali which I believe his mom lived. He was working a job and working out and was playing pickup football with some players on the juco team and the rest was history.

Chad was the real deal…but his grades was so bad they should of put him in ESOL.

Keyshawn Johnson is one of my all time favorite Bucs. I feel like Ochocinco was a clone of him and Joey Galloway but more unstoppable and ****y because of it but not even close to the level of Randy Moss or Jerry Rice of course, just a solid solid wr you'd want on your NFL roster.
If you take away the 12 younger cats on the all time WR list Chad ends up about top 30 overall instead of 43rd
