OT: Beirut Explosion

Entering some scary times. I especially fear for what's coming down the pike for my kids. I am getting old too. Tetrasticles thinks I'm a millennial. So at least I have that going for me.
I shouldn’t be so surprised. I’ve always said on this board how entitled older generations are. Your posts…original snowflake stuff, right there.

It is hard to be right about the Middle East. If you only accept the Bible as merely a sort of history book, conflict began there with Cain and Able. They kind of take breaks from fighting as appose to occasional wars. With, or without, outsiders they seem to find reason to fight. I'm old school and do not like interventions as a rule. Certainly Afghanistan in one place to just leave the **** alone. If the Brits and the Soviets couldn't stay there that is enough for me. Let's get out and give them a shot at the Chinese. China certainly wants all that rare earth elements.

But you need to be careful with Islam. It can be peaceful when at the disadvantage but it has long history of expansion when it has an edge. Massive silver find fueled it earliest moves into Europe. Crusades knock them back a little but then early use of gunpowder bought more. In our day, all that oil give them that urge again but USA is in the way.

Our first foreign war was there to protect American ships from seizure and sailors from slavery. The Brits paid tribute to avoid the "pirates". Once we were free, that tribute no longer protected us. We built navy when after them. If was our first successful projection of power. Now we reign supreme and virtually alone in that the most difficult on military skills. Ironic that Molsems started down a road that left them defenseless against us a couple hundred years later. This stuff is complicated. I haven't agreed with any of our Mideast wars but I am not a pacifist. If you talk about the one I think matter, against Iran, then I would be on board, BUT only a war declared by Congress and fought WWII style where killing the enemy is the objective and not some bs about freeing some people who love us. I ask you. have you seen or hear many Germans or Japanese yelling and screaming about conquering world after we got done with them? I am a Southerner. After Sherman we are happy to just kick a little *** on the football field and **** right I salute that bloody Stars and Strips.
Not a pacifist either. And, as easy as it was to fly commercial airlines into buildings, it’ll be even easier through other means - some which many haven’t even considered yet. But, airliners are child’s play when a geopolitical foe can use bots and a compromised Manchurian candidate to undermine a party and a country’s ideals. Because in America democracy doesn’t mean you won the people’s vote.

Your kids … are your worry for the wrong reasons.

I'm old and been though much with half my kids now risking being targets one day as fascistic socialists. I stopped going to casino for a while and need to fill the time doing something.

Just shows how wrong you are about many things you have opined on in this thread. However, just so you know what entitlement looks like: it is thinking you can say someone is wrong and not bother to explain why as if your word carries any authority. That exposes you as a mental light weight (thus your preponderance for emojis) that has nothing of substance to offer except cr@p you mindlessly regurgitate from you social distance "intellectual" circle jerks with other light weights.

History of Middle East according to the Bible. Condensed by me.

God promise Abraham he was going to be the father of a great nation, Israel. Abraham and wife, Sarah got old, with no kids.

Abraham stoped trusting God and took matters into his own hand. So he decided to sleep with his maid Hagar and had Ishmael. Ishmael is the father of the Arab nations. Because Ishmael was not the promised son, he did not receive all of God's blessing and in fact had a curse on his race, Gen. 16:12.due to Abraham's disbelief and sin.

Abraham and Sarah eventually did have the son of promise, Isaac. Which eventually became the ****** nation.

So the step brothers have been fighting for centiries. And no outsider is going to solve this family fued.
You‘re switching from the Bible to modern times as some sort of reason? Ugh!

So the which son spawned the Vikings? 3rd Reich? Genghis Khan? What about the Mongols? Because there must be a direct biblical explanation, no? Rhetorical!

There’s conflict all over the world. It’s what man does. Trying to make one group the heel and one group the hero is usually complicated. And trying to tie it to the Bible … stupid. You might need to read more of my newly found armistice partner @Gatorhater to catch up to making an even slightly reasoned argument. It’s a tentative peace We have you know - we still don’t agree, but you could learn more than you currently know.

That’s, not entitlement, Webster, that’s arrogance (it literally means to keep for oneself).

That is the intellectual version of “I’m rubber, you’re glue” … and that’s why I’ll go back to downvoting you.

You are revealing more biblical ignorance. Read the Table Of Nations after the Babel story. The history of Isaac and Ishmael is only focused on a particular family lineage that was to lead to the Messiah.

I'm guessing we haven't learned that stereotyping an entire group of people isn't a bad idea, have we?
It's all they have to defend themselves. We're against stereotypes that our convenient for our narrative. Glass house stone throwers...

I never said one group was the hero or heel. God did. I dont get to choose who is right or wrong. I just relayed the history.

Everybody knows not to do it with race, but they have no problem with age or other things. The only place where stereotypes are 100% true is anything involving the gator or their fans.

The same oxidizer makes one color smoke.

The same oxidizer doesn't make three, separate huge columns of smoke if one is red, one is white, and the third is tan.

1 does not equal 3.

There's your equation.
LOL. You continue to miss my point. As for your ”equation” … the math you’ve shown equals neither now, nor later - which is what you said the equation would equal.

Again, I don’t know it’s the same oxidizer. I don’t know what all was in there. I also don’t know that there were not arms/missiles there. And, from what I’ve read, neither do experts. So when you say you’re an expert -which I haven’t doubted, and you conclusively determine there’s foul play, you’re just going to have to show me more when, again, other experts have begged off that determination. You’re making an actual question personal, unnecessarily.

Good thing for Tetras this is math you can do on one hand. He will be getting into two hand math next school year and luckily for him offered through distance learning.
