Don't know your affiliation, but it's taken a catastrophe for many Republican members to need the same services they call, Socialism, to see what and the affects are on everyday working Americans. The Republicans need/needed the money from Safety Net programs to fund Corporate/Wealthy Socialism Welfare. Now that you need federal assistance, I'm not hearing the rallying cry Socialism. Now be a real dedicated Republican and not apply for or accept Socialism dollars.
Name a country or period in time when Socialism worked for the ppl that lived under it? Where everyone was equally prosperous living the perfect life of luxury worry free... That is the fantasy land ideology of socialism right?
This doesn't happen under any system, bruh. As long as there is money, there will be inequality.Name a country or period in time when Socialism worked for the ppl that lived under it? This notion that socialism = free is a misunderstanding of what socialism is. We have for decades had socialism in America (you didn't think your local police department or those highways were funded by Amazon or Berkshire-Hathaway, did you)?
Also, and this is most important, a socialist structure does not mean you cannot gain wealth. There are plenty of billionaires in socialist countries. For every "Venezuela is a failed state that shows socialism that doesn't work" there's a Haiti, Sudan, or Afghanistan that shows pure capitalism is no better. There's no such thing as a perfect system.
Anyway, my only response to the OP is: You actually got through to the Florida Unemployement Office?!?! Respect.
Ding ding ding. Correct, Mr. Madison. Capitalism is an economic system based on private ownership as a means of production and profit.Haiti, Sudan and Afghanistan are not capitalist.
Furthermore, capitalism is not a form of government.
This bailout is unprecedented, the whole country is hurting and people are losing jobs and companies will die. In 2009 the previous administration bailout of corporations like GM and Chrysler was very controversial but was it warranted? Both car makers were losing billions even before the bailout. Ford said no thanks. Hey what can I say I drive a Cadillac today... I only drive American. This whole bailout is nothing but corporate welfare. This country is all about socialism on both sides!

Based on that definition, Haiti, Sudan, and Afghanistan -- all free market economies with little to no central economic planning are capitalist. They are certainly closer on that spectrum than socialist of communist.
But they aren’t free market economies, those economies are very much controlled by the respective governments.

And even then, I can list an entire roster of other failed states with capitalist systems if you want to continue to haggle over those 3 examples. The point remains: There is no perfect system. Capitalism has failed nations just as much as socialism has.
If you genuinely believe that, then I don’t know what else to say other than your beliefs are mistaken and I’ll leave it at that.If you genuinely believe that any of those three countries have market economies, then I don’t know what else to say other than your beliefs are mistaken and I’ll leave it at that.
Socialism, communism and all other forms of command or centrally planned economies and the forms of government that are required to direct such economies have wrought infinitely more destruction than capitalism.
Bailouts, both for banking (yes, that includes AIG and Lehman Brothers) and for the automakers, were begun under the previous, PREVIOUS, administration. I’d say, “…Don’t let the regurgitation-TV, hateful talk-radio, and alt-intellect sites mind poisoning through repetition convince you that fiction is fact”, but you’re so far gone …This bailout is unprecedented, the whole country is hurting and people are losing jobs and companies will die. I have heard Horror stories for the past 2 weeks....and from hardworking people who were Layed off...and are most definitely seeking employment on a daily basis...262k were denied which was 40% of the applicants. Our CPA said 100% all of us that were denied all qualify for unemployment. She told our boss to have us all reapply under the new site they created. But wouldn't you know it crashed today around 11 am and was down for the rest of the day.
