OT: Anyone get denied unemployment in Florida?

Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, South Korea, Japan are very socialist and are some of the more robust and egalitarian economies.
On the other end, Venezuela, Cuba, are also those but they aren't given access to the American economy, which puts then at a disadvantage and Venezuela economy is entirely based on the price of oil.
Each state has it's own case, it's usually whatever works best for them.
I'm in Canada, zero people are getting denied, the Gov is giving out billions of dollars and not many people are stressing.
Banks are giving deferred payment on mortgage, landlords for rent, commercial and residential, it's pretty crazy how much everyone is working together and I'm self employed.
 
It’s a shame what is going on in this country right now. Goes to show we weren’t prepared for a “**** hits the fan” moment. Trump talks up the military like we would be ready for WW3 if it ever happened but I’m questioning that now too if he couldn’t defeat this “invisible enemy”. He’s getting his a$$ kicked in this “war”. And the American people are the ones suffering.

I don't know a single Republican, libertarian or other that thinks there should not be a safety net for hard working Americans in any time of need. What I & most are opposed to is the able bodied people who juke the system, not work a day in their lives, living off Uncle Sam. BIG DIFFERENCE and you are misrepresenting it as a partisan because I know you are smart enough to know the difference.

Red or Blue it doesn't matter with this stuff. In my entire life, I have never seen Government do anything efficiently. It's the whole bloated, red tape, multi level approval way of doing things that is permanently broken. You'd still have the same cluster F if Clinton were elected. Most Government workers are grossly incompetent and don't care because they can't even be fired for performance.

if Sweden Norway Finland Denmark South Korea didn’t have the Us military basically be their military the last 50 years, would they be able to practice socialism? Thats a mighty pricey expense they have been able to right off.

if socialists understood economics, they wouldn't be socialists.

I agree with some of your points. But the data shows the US is near the bottom of G10 nations when it comes to covid. Its also exposed cracks in our health care system.

Anyone who denies that giving/receiving government or public assistance is not a form of Socialism is denying reality...and denying the facts

Government/Public assistance whatever it is called is basically a Socialist program

You don't have to have a Socialist government to have some Socialist programs in place like we clearly have had for years

Thank Gawd we have some of these Socialist safety net programs in place like SS, unemployment etc.

Bad ( Socialist welfare ) when others are getting it..... Good & necessary (stimulus) when we are getting them

Now go cash those welfare/stimulus checks and call it whatever makes you happy.....but we ALL know that this Duck is still a Duck...only this time, this Duck is ok because we are the ones getting it.

You do know that social security is YOUR money that you have put in, that you are getting back in the end. If it still exists when you need it....

Europe has their own army via the EU, America certainly helps, and who's gonna invade them? Russia? This isn't the cold war anymore.

I never said socialism works, I said it depends on the case, no need to get defensive.

My world is pretty good in Canada with universal health care and cheap education with multiple top 50 post secondary institutions, I certainly don't mind it. :) the major issue with America is they let state owned companies come in and compete and take over, and those companies will never give up the home base, think Huyndai or Kia, meanwhile they do nothing, or very little kn comparison, to protect home base.

At least my opinion, right or wrong. Certainly not gonna convince anyone over internet forums haha opinions are like buttholes right!

I got through and was able to reopen an existing claim... I have to claim weeks starting on May7th I believe...Have to check the date again...
It didn't state anywhere about the extra $600 so I assume it's automatic but I'm not sure at all.... There was only one question during the process that covered Covid-19... It asked was I let go directly due to the corona virus and I replied yes, that was it...
So when it comes time to collect the weeks due I'll find out if -
A) They let me collect.
B) They give me the extra $600 per week...

And those countries' economies are decidedly capitalist. They have safety nets and welfare systems but to say they're 'socialist' is just plain wrong.

It's not about the means of production.....its about how $ are distributed

When government decides how my $ are to be distributed.....that is a Socialist idea / program

I'm not going to argue semantics.....you want to call your Duck a Pretty Dog with web feet? Fine.....We still know its a Duck

You are a moron.

The government CHOSE to shut down industry and business and mandate that people stay home. The governments actions caused these economic hardships on people therefore the govt is trying to keep people aloat by pumping our own tax dollars back to us.

This is not the same as regular socialist ideas.
