ONLY 2 schools that can end the monopoly

Miami or LA. The next title town for college football. The good ole boys will hate it but it's what must be done.

More pro's consistently come from Greater LA and Greater Miami than any where else in the country.

OSU isn't ending anything, this is a good as it gets at OSU and Bama is still top dog

Traditionally these 5 schools are a threat to dethrone Bama when they on top of their game: Ohio state, USC, Okla, FSU, and UM. Honorable mentions would go to Big Red and the Gators.

The Gator only got two titles because of the Ol' Ball Coach and Urban Liar's willingness to tolerate felons on his squad.

UM is more likely than USC to challenge Bama, but to do so, it has to rebuild the 2001 team. And do it year in and year out to attract 5 stars from across the country. Not easy.

Alabama likely on the way to another National Championship is thriving with recruiting...again. In my opinion there are 2 schools that can stop Nick Saban and none of them come from SEC, Big10 or named Notre Dame. I'll also add the SEC is beginning to weaken from top to bottom because of the strangle hold that Alabama has on their conference.

Miami & USC

Until these two schools are back on top, Alabama will continue to roll, especially over the likes of Taint.

miami will never take down bama.

Bama will always be good but everything in CFB is cyclical, they will be down but because their fans and tradition demand it, they will stay down less than most and for shorter durations as well....

Miami and USC when at their best are as good as it gets, they get the right guy at the right time, those two programs have the ability, like Bama, to steamroll CFB...

And in 97 they said Miami football was done and they would never win another National Championship.

Why is Miami "the school" to take down Bama? In what way are we set up to do that? Back in the day we could take advantage of South Florida recruiting because other schools didn't have as much access or insight that modern recruiting offers to the whole nation. Our location can make us competitive at any moment but we don't have half the resources as Bama. Their coaching staff is led by possibly the best to ever do it, then filled with former full time head coaches at the NFL and college level throughout their staff. Also, because of recent success it's become a monster that every five star wants to jump in on.

There's no logic besides pure homerism. Maybe we should focus on just taking down FSU first.

It's called the hedonic treadmill, or adaptation. Nothing last forever, if it did, we would still be on top or never have gotten there to begin with. Same thing for USC, that run they had after our early 2000 run was impressive.

Judging from the roller coaster we have been on as a program since the late 70's. From almost shutting down football to winning 4 national titles, then almost getting the death penalty to then coming back and dominating, to almost getting the death penalty again. it isn't foolish to think we will dominate once more in the near future. Same goes for USC and a few other historic programs.

Besides hiring Pete Carroll, when was the last time USC was dominant

We will never be what we used to be. Those days have sailed, and with Richt we will win around 9-10 a games per year, maybe eventually an Acc champ game. USC does not play tough enough to ever compete with Alabama, Pac 12 is more of a finesse league.

I see the only teams to possibly be there are:

Texas
OSU
FSU
Clemson
