Coaching has gotten worse and teams are too lazy to actually develop a QB. instead of letting QB’s sit and learn without pressure for a year or two (which is what produced the top end of the QB play you’re talking about), guys are getting hung out to dry on Day 1 with no supporting cast, and even worse coaching. Half the coaches are unsuccessful retreads who keep getting shorts for god knows what reason.

I agree with this take, especially throwing young QBs on the field too soon. For some reason, no one has decided to follow the Packers way. We’ll see how long the Raiders keep Mendoza on the bench.

You're correct. The other thing many people miss is that whether it's IZ or OZ, the RB has a particular read. If they make an incorrect read and go A gap when the read and blocking indicated C gap, that's on the RB not the coordinator.

If you watch the film review of the playoffs the error rate from the blocking or RB vision was much higher when they tried to get creative or run outside. Got stuffed on a Malicat 3rd down against Ole Miss that was open with a proper block, missed a huge Fletcher run that was there against Indiana in the first half, aTm game was messy everywhere.

IIRC Damien Martinez had an issue with the scheme in the beginning of 2024 and then his vision and feel got much better later in the year and he stopped missing holes as often.
 
That oline absolutely mauled and beat the **** out of what is prob a top 5 Dline by talent and a good schemer of Defense. The game I watched, aTm they reminded me of our line last year…..without the pre snap penalties lol

Good for Will Stein. Anyone who can smack the mouth breathing gata is ok with me!

I actually sat next to the UK AD on a plane recently. He was at Mich St as AD and at Bama doing fundraising. Young guy who hired Fitz at MSU before he left and then hired Stein. Couldn't help but root for UK more after talking to him, but he was all bout Da S-E-C LOL.

I agree. I would like to continue to see Upshaw progress with Moore out. His routes against CMU were spectacular. We need Cooper to continue to improve and be able to beat man press coverage against top tier DBs. Lastly, Wingo-Jacobs-Soafford emergence would be nice. It is helpful Lofton is playing with a pulse. He had his best all around game against CMU. The RB room is still loaded. If we figured out the IOL we are cooking. The D is going to be elite if we get X and Slime back.
