Cignetti has a huge ego. Indiana probably working on a pay raise right now. Penn st will probably match or beat the money. I could see Cignetti leaving.Cignetti could go 8-5 every year after this and he'd be adored by the IU fans and have his statue built outside Memorial Stadium. Do the same in Penn State, and he'd be fired in 3 years.
That's why its dumb for him to leave IU.
You miss every shot you don’t take, and on CIS, the ones you do, too…..Been reading these types of threads here for 15 years
Despite batting about .000 CIS keeps taking swings
It’s inspirational
At the moment the biggest Job open is Penn State, followed by Arkansas, OKST, and Virginia Tech. Florida’s expected to open up in a few weeks as well, along with Wisconsin and South Carolina. Auburn could also open up.
One job to keep an eye on, which would really put pressure on Florida and Auburn, is LSU. Right now Brian Kelly has the Tigers at 5-1. However, they have Vandy, Bama, A&M, and Oklahoma. Only one of those games, A&M will be in Death Valley. Kelly is in year 4 at LSU, with a record good enough for 98% of programs. I just don’t know if 8-4 in Year 4 would be tolerable in Baton Rouge.
You're forgetting about UCLA. I'd be shocked if they stick with Skipper.
Who gives a **** if he’s 65? In any interview have you thought he’s old and out of touch? I haven’t. It’s all about resultsI get it, what he's done in IU is impressive, but do you really want to hire a guy turning 65 soon? And if you're Cignetti, would you want to make the move? With 12-team field and NIL, it's not nearly as important to go to a name program as it used to be. It helps, but IU is showing you can play for a title from unexpected places now.
It matters. Look at Mario. It took him 3 years and buy-in from admin to get the ship righted. He's obviously set up Indiana well. If he leaves, depending on where he goes, it may take him 2-3 years to equal where he's currently at with Indiana. The guy looks like he has fire left, but do you want to shorten your window when you're nearing the end of your career?Who gives a **** if he’s 65? In any interview have you thought he’s old and out of touch? I haven’t. It’s all about results
Moore was not a good hire. The should can himI wouldn’t be surprised if the Michigan job opens up by the end of the year
I think Freeman would be a home run hire for anyone. But does he have any pro aspirations? He could kill it anywhere. Could see him go somewhere and have a Mike Tomlin-esqe/John Harbaugh tenure somewhereCall me stupid, crazy, retarded, or dumb, but I have heard that a serious name to keep an eye on for that UF job is:
ND HC Marcus Freeman
Could be agent work, but he's not associated with Sexton, who usually does that type of stuff.
Apparently, he is not having the most fantastic time of his life at ND right now.
-Hard to get kids in
-Allegedly not much freedom (no pun intended) in terms of hires being done
Lets see what happens.
That is all true, but of just the team's you listed there, IU had a better roster than NW and their isn't much difference between them. How many coaches could do that? Mario couldn't. This team is better than last years team. He hit in the portal again with some hold overs. He already won me over and I don't even like the guy.I love how quick people line up to slurp Cignetti after his big win. Yeah, he was 11-2 at BasketballU last year ater they went 3-9 the year before. Yeah, they just beat Oregon in their house (that actually is impressive). However, when you peel the onion back a bit, you'll see that his 11-2 last year included beating up on a bunch of nobodies. They played 8 home games. 3 of their 4 road games were against Ucla, Michigan State and Northwestern. The other...Ohio State who throttled them. They beat Michigan in Bloomington and lost ot ND in the playoffs.
His resume prior to Indiana is good - James Madison won 10 games under him. But it's James Madison. Am I saying Cignetti stinks? No. Not at all. I am saying can we let the sample size get larger before we rush to crown Curt the King? Ok, we can't.
Carry on.....perhaps 7-11 can sponsor an event for his lovers with a free SLURPee to all!
Kelly is in year 4 at LSU, with a record good enough for 98% of programs.
Michigan could very well open up. Sherrone Moore’s buyout is no more than $5 million. If that job opens up Brian Kelly would gladly leave LSU for it
With the pressure to win UF is about fourth right now, and likely to get worse.Florida IMO will be the top job in the carousel.

No Top 10 finishes — didn't even end up in the Top 25 last year.
Zero appearances in the SEC championship game.
Also-ran bowls only.
There's at least a half-dozen SEC programs — and close to that many in the B1G — where a coach with Kelly's record would be on thin ice in Year 4.
The LSU fans don't hate just because him he's an unlikable SOB from Boston
