One Potential HC Job to Keep Eye On

That is all true, but of just the team's you listed there, IU had a better roster than NW and their isn't much difference between them. How many coaches could do that? Mario couldn't. This team is better than last years team. He hit in the portal again with some hold overs. He already won me over and I don't even like the guy.
You don't know that Mario couldn't do that. You also don't know that he could. If you don't like Mario as a game day coach, that's fine, but let's not use non-provable assertations as some some of justification. Is it worth noting that Cigneti did things at IU that they've never dreamt of before? Yes. Is it noteworthy that he walked his team into Eugene, Oregon and thumped the Ducks? Sure is. The sample is less than 1 and 1/2 seasons. All I'm saying with regard to Cignetti is can we all relax a tad before we annoint him with the golden peniz?

Kelly sucks, but they went to SECCG in his first year at LSU.

Good catch thanks

I think **** would have to really go off the hinges for them to fire him.

If they go 0-3 or even 1-2 the next three games (@Vandy, A&M, @Bama), then there's a good chance he'll be coaching for his job in the season finale at OU

With the pressure to win UF is about fourth right now, and likely to get worse.
It's no longer a coveted job. They're a mid-level SEC team with massive expectations.

I think it remains a coveted job.
I've been following recruiting since mid-1970s and even when they were bad, they always recruited well.
The following will make me nauseous and leave me feeling dirty but......As much as I hate that program, they remain the flagship school of a state loaded to the gills with football talent, and in
an elite conference no less.
It's a school where alot of young folks in the state want to attend.
They were floundering under Ron Zook and look at what happened when Urban Von FingerBanger took over the program.
It didn't take long to return to elite status.
Elite coaches remember this and they want that challenge.

Now excuse me while I drink a good mouthwash and take a good shower.

TrumpyCane isn't going to say Dykes is a better coach because he's not but this place was drooling over Dykes and saying how he led TCU to the playoffs and NC game

Proceeded to go 5-7 and then 9-4

It is funny, Shane Beamer when asked earlier in the season about the vacant VT position said he was committed to USCe, now that they are 3-3 and staring at potentially a 7 or 8 loss season, is USCe committed to him............
Welp…. **** change really fast in the coaching profession. You are committed to a job as long as they are committed to you. Even on the high school level, nowadays. When you get an inkling that your job ain’t committed to you… you would be wise to be looking for the next gig. My eyes are always open. Always checking the “temperature” in the room.

Or: "A coach (or AD) is only as faithful as his options"

Threr years ago I would’ve agreed, but things are different now. I’d rank Penn State and Auburn as better jobs. Those programs have more buy in and resources. Also, gonna be a pain for any new Florida coach to recruit at the level they’re expecting in Florida

Michigan could very well open up. Sherrone Moore’s buyout is no more than $5 million. If that job opens up Brian Kelly would gladly leave LSU for it. That would make a lot of folks happy at LSU.
I listened to Pate’s podcast this morning. He hinted that a surprise job could open talking about PSU not being the only big job open. Then when talking about USC/Michigan said 8-4/9-3, could get Moore canned.

Not sure they go after Kelly, but it seems like Michigan is wanting things to go south. They looked better when Moore was suspended than when he’s on the sidelines.

Call me stupid, crazy, retarded, or dumb, but I have heard that a serious name to keep an eye on for that UF job is:
ND HC Marcus Freeman

Could be agent work, but he's not associated with Sexton, who usually does that type of stuff.

Apparently, he is not having the most fantastic time of his life at ND right now.
-Hard to get kids in
-Allegedly not much freedom (no pun intended) in terms of hires being done

Lets see what happens.

I am close to Notre Dame. I have heard zero talk like this. They have given him every resource he’s asked for, facilities, academics, portal. He would likely only leave for OSU or the NFL. Notre Dame is also a better job than Florida.

Don’t like that. After looking D.O.A. early on, he has gone on to exceed expectations at Notre Lame. Don’t want the Crocs to get him. Would be bad for ND if he leaves, though, so…

🤷‍♂️

Penn St should go after Matt Campbell. Should be their #1 priority

I remember reading an interview with Campbell many years ago.
He originally signed with Pitt but he said he didn't like it because the football
atmosphere was not intense enough for him, so he went looking at other schools.
He visited a friend at Mount Union (Oh) and he was sold on the football atmosphere.
A division 3 school but very intense football environment.
It seems to me StatePenn would be a good fit.

By the way, Google how many Mt.Union alums are coaching in college and NFL.
It is amazing. They are up there with the big schools.

Dollars to donuts some team is going to pay Urban Meyer 15 million per year to return to coaching. Coaches with his ego don’t want the last impression of their coaching career to be utter incompetence and getting fired. And his penchant for fingerbanging coeds isn’t going to stop a team from hiring him.
And that’s how you end up with a 24 year old girlfriend on the sidelines and Ludacris playing a 9AM concert.

I’d be shocked if lsu opened up. But if it does that’s the best job by far. In my opinion it’s the best job in the country due to local talent and lack of competition for said talent. Those kids want to stay home. Plus recent success. Since 2003 they have won a ring with 3 different head coaches
