One player who could fit well with Beck

Josh Moore.

After watching way too much Beck game tape, one thing I noticed is that he will give his receivers a chance to make contested catches. He's very good at placing the ball and hitting back shoulder. This is one reason why Colby Young was his favorite receiver last year. Guys like Arian Smith and Dillon Bell were more run-after-catch specialists who played stiff with the ball in the air.

While most of the freshman conversation has been about Malachi Toney, Josh Moore also flashed in a big way this spring. Excited to track his development over the summer now that Beck is back throwing.

Yup. He does it with subtlety and body control versus Mossing dudes, but if you put a ball back shoulder to him I expect him to track the ball better than the DB and make the play. Tremendous strong hands at the catch point.

Moore is more pure size and athleticism. Jojo is playing the ball late and creating separation at the last minute via elite body control.

Excited to watch both make plays down the field.

Josh Moore is obviously talented, and it's not all that unusual for TF receivers to make an impact.

Can't help but to read into this in terms of progress with a grad-transfer/late enrollee at the position.

The issue isn't them. It's that there is no other big among the receiving corp. Daniels is generously listed at 6'2". And Moore has a long wing span, too. So Moore best matches up with Beck on contested catch plays, assuming we want to go that route.

I too felt like Moore would have a big impact with Beck, and in general, after watching his tape. Kid has a great combination of size and speed, and his athleticism & ability to catch a football are off the charts.

On Labor Day the team who can pass the ball down the field has a big advantage. The Irish will plan to challenge us down the field, and we will need to win down the field vs their CBs. This is where we can win the game. I do have one concern, it will take Beck some time to get comfortable with his WRs, small chance they are at that point on Labor Day. Hopefully it’s good enough.

Agree, D, the thing with Moore is, the size he brings to the field. That’s one thing that can’t be coached or taught, you’re either blessed with it or you’re not and Josh is. With his talent, I just don’t think you can keep them off the field this year. I really think he he’s gonna have a big-time breakout year for us this year.

I disagree. The key to the ND game will be decided on which team controls the line of scrimmage.

The ND OL will come out and try to punch our DL in the mouth and if our DL doesn’t hit back and/or respond - the game will be over before it really ever gets started.

There’s a different feeling as an offensive player when you see a team hit big players through the air - but when you’re watching your DT get driven back into the LBs lap (pause), it’s a very different feeling, it’s a demoralizing feeling….a feeling of being dominated.

Valid point, but there’s 90 days, 3months before the game. There better be informal get togethers every day twice a day with Beck and any and all receivers for throwing and route running. If they can’t establish synergy and muscle memory by then, we are F** ked. But again 3months is a long time and it’s a mission that needs to be accomplished, hopefully those B*** he’s are at it today Go Canes🙌🏽

You mean like how we did them last we played in 2017 when they had 3 all Americans and we beat em off the ball all night dominated them! Lets hope its another night like that! At the Rock first game of the year we have a vet vs there first time starter. Hope we come out an make a example out them boys!!! Hope its a game Bain comes out and dominates!
