One of the podcasts mentioned PJ Fleck as a possibility. Thoughts?

Any competent coach would win 10 games most years at Miami. Pick a coach whose team is currently listed in the top 15 and has been at his job for at least 3 years, who wouldn't come and knock out 10 games.

Manny's hot garbage and if he had been a mediocre HC, he would've fallen backward into 10 wins this season. I totally stand by that statement. If Fleck came here, he would win 10 a year or more unless the Coastal suddenly turned into the SEC West.
You say that BUT for some reason no one seems to win at Miami. I still think it's a mixture of a bad admin, cheap/little booster funding, and being stuck with mostly So Fla players who are poorly developed at the HS level bc of bad coaching.

Bama takes 2-3 guys per year from So Fla and 1/2 or more are from IMG or a private school (St. Thomas, Heritage) and places them with 80 guys from GA, TX, CA, AL and SC. What do those states have in common? Higher teacher pay, higher coaching stipends, and full-time S&C coaches.

I really don't think his "row the boat" **** would work with Miami recruits. and if youre sick on Manny trying to sell us snake oil, PJ would make you lose your mind

Get rid of Napier and Clark, add Fleck and Kiffin and you've got yourself a list of coaches who would regularly win 10 games here.
Uh no.

Clark has never had a losing season ever dating back to his high school days and Napier used to be Saban’s old recruiting hit man. Neither of the coaches you mentioned have any of that on their resume.

Plus PJ looks like a giant cornball just like Norvell.

Believe me, I get what you're saying and the frustration that it has brought, but at the same time, you can't bring in poor candidates and expect them to suddenly be great. The only coach out of the last 5 who "made sense on paper" was Golden and what can I say? Sometimes that stuff happens. The other 4 coaches (including Richt) never should've been hired in the first place. There were other coaches who would've been far better than each one of those other 4.

And, out of all 5, including Al, none of them had made a splash as a major HC and was still performing at a high level (looking at you Richt) when they came here. All of the guys I'm interested in have had success in major CFB.

We're not in a position to take a chance on either Napier or Clark. We need HC's who don't just have potential, but have actually proven it in one of the P5 conferences. After we get the program built back up, we can possibly look for HC's that have potential, but this next one has to be a proven P5 winner.

It’s literally not that hard people!

1) Mario
2) Bill Clark
3) Mark Stoops
4) Bill Napier
5) Greg Schiano

^ One of the 5 please
I would put Schiano at 2 at three Hugh Freeze.....4. Butch lol.....still damnit fuq it......hmmmm.....5. No one else for me. Bring me these guys that can keep kids home. Matter fact Freeze would be my number 1 but i slot him in at 2 and put Schiano 3.

Pass. He’s a slightly better version of Golden.
Not necessarily a PJ shill, but comparing him to Golden is interesting. Most on here feel that if Golden had treated the D in the same manner he treated the O, he would've been successful and I'm definitely in that group. If he were slightly better than Al, sans allegiance to a failing D system and DC, that sounds pretty good to me.

Coker and Shannon were hired because Miami is cheap and lazy. Just like with Manny.

Richt should have been hired to bridge the gap between disaster and progress. Then Blake James hired Manny for no ******* reason besides Manny Sr said so. Richt won 19 games his final 2 years in Athens. That's like 3 years at Miami.

They're not hiring Freeze. He's a complete scumbag. Freeze has to hope some SEC school gets desperate. They're the only conference that can get away with hiring his ***.

Lane has his eyes on bigger **** than Miami. LSU is going to be open soon. Coach O is making $9M? Recruiting who you want, they'll never get in trouble in BR, and you'll make 2x the money and your pool will be MUCH larger for staff/AC's/recruiting. Only P5 in the state.

I know a lot of people won't like this but I would at least give Tom Herman an interview. Hes 49-22 as a HC and he really didn't do a bad job at Texas, he was 32-18 over there and was fired after going 7-3, he also won 4 straight bowl games. He's 46 with a lot of experience and connections and we could afford him.
Only if he promises to stop kissing his players pre-game. Oh and ditches the grill.

I am sure we can get the Temple coach if we can afford the buyout
We hired two Temple coaches. The one we didn't hire turned out to be the ******* superstar.

My Carolina Panthers thank you, but **** that's a miserable place to be as a Canes fan.

Let's examine our last four hires shall we and play a little 'where are they now'?

Since 2007:
Randy Shannon - since being fired he's never been a HC again, at any level. He's currently the 'Senior defensive analyst' at Forfeit St.
Al Golden - since being fired he's never been a HC again, at any level. He's currently the LB Coach for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Mark Richt - after stepping away, pre-empting his firing, he's never been a HC again. He's currently a talking head on the ACCN.

Are we sensing a trend?

Alabama takes the BEST 2-3 guys from SoFl every year. My mother could have told you Cooper, Ridley and Jeudy were going to be NFL players and she doesn't even know what American Football is.

His record at Minnesota is average and a bit concerning. Was he a 1 hit wonder with that 11 win season?

5-7
7-6
11-2
3-4
2-1 (current year)

I know last year was a Covid season so things were different but I think how they bounce back this year will tell us a lot about Fleck. Would I take him over Manny? ABSOLUTELY.
He had some fluky stuff last year. Half the starters on the o-line opted out right before the season. That Bateman kid seemed checked out. Lost a bunch of weird games.

They’ll probably struggle some this year against Iowa and Wisconsin but they lost their top RB against Ohio State.

Unfortunately I’ve watched a lot Minnesota football in my life and outside of a few decent seasons under Glen Mason and Jerry Kill they’ve been terrible. COVID ruined everything they had going. He’s a good coach, just wouldn’t work here.
