Kaaya seemed gun shy to me. He got hit hard way too much. Maybe I’m looking to much into that, but IMO it stunted his growth. If he builds year over year he's going to be very very good.
Hope he doesn't hit the wall that Kaaya did and never really got better after his 2nd year. Totally different player with better tools than Kaaya, though.
I'd be surprised if he doesn't see it vs GT. I think Geoff Collins is a good coach.Said it during the 2nd half in the chat I’m in. TVD is picking apart these blitzes curious how the offense looks when they decide to drop 7. I believe that is coming either this week or next week against the noles.
Kaaya saw ghosts for his final two years. Couple that with his complete inability to avoid pressure and it sure got ugly some times. TVD already surpassing him in pocket feel and, given his frame, ability to take a hit, I'd imagine.Kaaya seemed gun shy to me. He got hit hard way too much. Maybe I’m looking to much into that, but IMO it stunted his growth.
Funny how we have a different center calling the blocking schemes and we seem to know who to block now. I'm not seeing rushers inside come free like we have for years. The ol has improved pass blocking a lot too. They graded out as the best group in the Acc against NCSU.
My thoughts exactly.Kaaya saw ghosts for his final two years. Couple that with his complete inability to avoid pressure and it sure got ugly some times. TVD already surpassing him in pocket feel and, give his frame, ability to take a hit, I'd imagine.
Dude got hit so hard he lost a molar, not sure I can completely blame him.Kaaya saw ghosts for his final two years. Couple that with his complete inability to avoid pressure and it sure got ugly some times. TVD already surpassing him in pocket feel and, given his frame, ability to take a hit, I'd imagine.
That hit he took in the 58-0 Clemson game changed him. He didn't seem to shake it off after that. He would fold up when pressure came. I remember it like it was yesterday.. a 3 man rush with 8 guys dropped into a prevent zone defense lolKaaya seemed gun shy to me. He got hit hard way too much. Maybe I’m looking to much into that, but IMO it stunted his growth.
Then we'll what Lashlee has. Let them drop and tear them up with the RPO.I'd be surprised if he doesn't see it vs GT. I think Geoff Collins is a good coach.
I mean, I would take another Kaaya, but agree with the general point of your post, want to see him to grow game after game, season after season and not plateau. If he builds year over year he's going to be very very good.
Hope he doesn't hit the wall that Kaaya did and never really got better after his 2nd year. Totally different player with better tools than Kaaya, though.
The one that sticks out to me is the hit he lost part of a tooth. That hit he took in the 58-0 Clemson game changed him. He didn't seem to shake it off after that. He would fold up when pressure came. I remember it like it was yesterday.. a 3 man rush with 8 guys dropped into a prevent zone defense lol
TVD has been good lately under pressure - can't recall a hit like that yet - NCST got him a few times but none of them that violent. That could be the measuring stick... but on the other hand.. he is much 'bigger' that Kaaya. Definitely not a frail kid and he moves better limiting how easy it is to get a good hit on him. Kaaya was a tackling dummy..easy to square up.
I been losing it when I see Lashlee call counter trey and actually have guys in motion.. Against UVA and such alot of our big plays came from that.. He uses it too much as side dishes but I think it should be the main course, add restraint plays with the bubbles off countertrey, Oooooweeeeee, look like oklahoma a bit..The ol has improved pass blocking a lot too. They graded out as the best group in the Acc against NCSU.
does Lashlee deserve a nod here?He is shredding pressure. Pittsburgh sent several blitzes his way and he threw right at them. Against UNC and UVA, he was 3-13 for ten yards and a pick under pressure. The past two games, he is 10-16 for 164 yards with three TDs.
TVD is excellent in his preparation and now he has experience. Couple that with the physical tools, and we are seeing rapid progress.
Lashlee and Likensdoes Lashlee deserve a nod here?
Yes sir. That’s what I’ve been saying is my only gripe with him.The only obvious mistake I can see is that he rolls right and goes back every time there is pressure whereas if he could move up in the pocket he had a better chance for a completion or to at least throw the ball away. This was the case even when there was no pressure up the middle.
