On Ny Carr...Staying at UM

Carson Beck deserves what Cam Ward was afforded, this is not the time to penny pinch on getting him proven weapons
Exactly right they chose to go all in to support Cam with weapons so we need to go all in to support Carson

That’s right. When we beat those teams for recruits it’s because they didn’t have a commitable offer from them. Kirby Smart didn’t really want Carr, even though he was committed to Georgia before we flipped him. It was all super secret 5 D chess to make Mario waste a roster spot on a receiver they secretly didn’t want.
You probably believe in the Tooth Fairy.

If there is a Georgia kid that UGA/Bama/Auburn REALLY want they get them.

You probably thought we "flipped" Jaleel Skinner from Bama too.

The bigger issue is we aren't loaded with Day 1 and Day 2 picks but we are still budgeting. Having our highest paid players be depth pieces that can't touch the field is mismanagement of funds.
Yeah I think this is actually the smarter way to say it tbh. My view has always been and will always be it’s better to overspend on 2-3 guys a cycle who are likely first round picks, see ant hill, Simmons, and francis on our own team. And I was very close to Francis situation and we almost duffed it.

We're starting to see a pattern with these Miami Portal departures: talented players who had coaches genuinely excited at one point, but plateaued in their development and struggled to get on the field this spring.

Carr is a guy I loved in spring '24. He got open consistently and made plays from Cam Ward and others. Over time, his inconsistency became a concern and his body was slow to develop. This led to some nagging injuries, including missing significant time this spring (like Josh Horton and Zaquan Patterson). Carr's absence allowed guys like Malachi Toney, Josh Moore and Daylyn Upshaw to thrive, and his '24 classmate JoJo Trader jumped to another level physically and in terms of consistent production.

Given his price tag, the urgency of modern college football, and Carr's eagerness to play, the sides parted ways. I never heard a bad word about him, and he has a chance to produce at his next stop if he physically matures. In my opinion, this would be a player to target in the Portal for other teams
When did CIS/D$ become the mouthpiece for the football progrum trying to control & push the narrative to the fan base? Seems like CIS has a lot more access now too, CIS getting in on that NIL $$$ to push narratives?!
What is a progrum ?

I hear you, and I basically agree. In fact, per my comments, I think that the injuries/lack of playing time have "slowed down" Ny, but I don't think he has "plateaued".

Personally, I wish he had come back for another year. I think he was good enough and that Miami has enough of a need (which could conceivably grow if anyone ahead of him is injured) that it was worthwhile.

It's my understanding this was more of a choice on his part to pursue playing time elsewhere. But some posters are spinning things out to be bigger than they are.

I understand what you are saying about sports reporting, generally. I think this issue is bigger than sports too. In "olden times", we understood the difference between the factual reporting of news events, and the commentary (and even spin) that commentators chose to put on those news events.

I think it's fair for @DMoney to report what the coaches say. If he didn't, Ferman would, and someone would ccpy-paste it here anyhow. However, if a person such as @DMoney does not come out and say "I agree with what the coaches are saying", then some of the posters on this board need to become more adept at figuring out what the writers say AND DON'T SAY.

To use a hilarious comparison, I specifically remember a round-table of F$U writers, before the season, telling us how amazing and talented the 2024 F$U team was. They didn't say "because the coaches said so". They fully endorsed that the 2024 F$U football team was one of the most talented ever, based upon what THEY THE WRITERS had observed. And then they all tried to make excuses for what they said once the team went 2-10.

I don't think that is what is happening here. I guess it's possible that @DMoney could occasionally say "hey, the coaches are full of **** here", but I just don't see that much on any website.

In conclusion, I'm just at a loss for why some of our fans seem to be so upset. I don't know what they "believed in" and I can't understand why they didn't see the signs. We offered John Mateer approximately what we offered Carson Beck. BEFORE the bowl game.

You have some great observations and points. I will NEVER tell you to "share what you know". If you do, great. Otherwise, those are your observations, do with them what you will. But some of our fans need to open up their eyes and stop being angry over coach-speak. It's never going away, and it's the same at every school.

the days of development are over, this is about immediate production(or at least enough promise early on) in the NIL/portal era. Some guys get impatient, other guys are processed out. Every situation is a bit different...

Guys like Andre Brown and Dale Dawkins --yeah, Im old, but lucky enough to have gone through this era of UM football -- not playing till around their 4th and 5th years and still making the league, are relics of the past

As are stories like Darrell Langham, 'program guys' who just kinda stick around, are content with that, coaches don't think they are a problem, and then they have a great moment or two. We remember them fondly, and leave a mark on the program and then move on with their lives...

It is what it is, but it's not as fun (at least until Cristobal can win it all)

I’m hoping that when the players can get direct compensation, and not EVERYTHING is about the annual NIL number, and with 105 scholarships, we can all afford to be patient again.

We almost didn't get Francis?

Good luck to Ny. I hope he goes somewhere and becomes great. We need to keep bringing in QBs that can make the throws and we need WRs that can get open and make the catches. It's that simple. We have the OL, we have decent RBs, we just need better QB depth and we need better WR depth. In this day and age, you can't be getting decent NIL and end up buried on the depth chart.
HS kids need to 1) be elite athletically and physically to break a line up made up of older players at their program or waiting to transfer into the program 2) Be patient and be willing to be developed. If you need to be developed and are not ready, you can't be asking for top money.

College football is no different that the professional sales industry. If you get hired to sell a product and increase sales, you better take your training seriously, you better believe in the product and you better produce. No one gives a scheitza about what you did before you got there. That only gets you the opportunity, it doesn't guarantee it. You will be measured by what your peers (and competitors to an extent) are doing. You are getting paid to do a job, do it well and produce results as quickly as possible. If you don't, you have nowhere to hide, you get exposed quickly and you're not going too last long!

Oh wait. You were serious?

Weird that UGA would take a commitment from a kid they didn’t really want.

It's the secret to their success. Recruit a bunch of 4* players who they know won't amount to anything, then let the bottom feeders swoop in and grab them, then they can recruit the players they really want.
