Miami is obviously heartbroken. Myson Johnson-Cook has rare physical tools and they spent a lot of time recruiting him.

But this ultimately came down to GM Dennis Smith making tough roster construction decisions.

I agree with the approach. If we stay stocked with the Jackson Cantwells of the world, we will run the ball.

Two names to watch at running back are Ty Keys (Picayune, Mississippi) and Brennan Lacey (Dallas, TX).
I’ll be honest. I’ve voiced my opinions on smith (as museum) if we use these dollars along the LOS, I do not blame him. His social presence is still cringe

Also this reads as many had discussed after he visited Auburn. They outbid Miami and in the end Miami decided to allocate funds differently. You can’t overpay for RB. It just isn’t a smart business model, see the nfl.

This also implies Miami plans to keep landing elite OL so hopefully that means Matthews. I’m fine with the decision to not match money on a RB.

I really hope its just poor word choice because Dennis has no business making roster construction decisions. But we better not be outbid for Matthews cuz at some point you just gotta pay the cost to be the boss. But I'm not worried, will let it play out. I would rather break bank for Matthews and flipping Jacobs from the Bucknuts.

My thing is if TAMU puts another million or two on the table for matthews then what? At that point we should’ve taken double Olu and MJC rather than overpay to match for matthews. Or Joshua Sam Epelle for even cheaper.

Mark matthews is very good but he isn’t a cantwell level prospect imo. We say we’re stockpiling for the trenches, then the expectation shouldn’t just be on Matthews but rather on landing 2 of the 3 or 3 of the 3 from Jaiden Bryant, DJ Jacobs, and David Foloshorun as well.

We need DLine monsters way more than Oline monsters

gonna find an alternate explanation or tweet deleted by dinnertime?

This wasn’t bragging. It was an attempt to create excitement and buzz. Whether that was the best approach or not, I’ll leave to others to debate.

But the deal wasn’t done to Miami at that time and nobody thought it was done.
Coming off landing a 5 star QB, buzz wasn’t needed. Coming off a natty birth, buzz isn’t needed. It’s already there…

Agreed but I do have trepidations about the Dennis Smith part. I was hoping given things said in the past that his influence and roll had been diminished.

If his role isn’t diminished and he’s a big part of roster construction. Why would we want it diminished? Played for a natty. One of the betting favorites this upcoming season. Seems like things are going well.

The people that let Dennis Smith's tweets bother them are funny to me. Who cares? Touch grass.

Golesh will try to create holes through space and pace, he doesnt need 5 star OL.

Also remember these big money recruitments have clown agents involved, and they are squeezing for every cent so they make more money.
