On CharMar "Marty" Brown...

One point I forgot to add to the OP- some of the top teams in America made huge offers to try and steal our top two backs.

So not only did we succeed in adding, we succeeded in retaining.
This is more important than adding, when you can keep your own players and ADD a quality back that is elite recruting

I don't think Matt has any merritt as a valuable coach on the staff....

I'll see myself out

I really dont get y this board Dislikes Fletcher so much..'hes a very solid/good college RB yall would be on here crying like yall did for Brashard Smith if he was on another team doing his thing smh
I believe it would take a player of Fletcher's stature going full MIA vs NC '20 for people to believe he is reliable. In his first 2 years he has > 5.0 yards per rush, 14 TDs and 2-3 fumbles in 217 carries (don't like this stat). He's good after contact and performs his best on running downs (1st and 2nd). He also peaks in the second half of games. I get he isn't as as smooth or explosive as Lyle but I think that says more about Lyle's talent than Fletcher's lack thereof. He initially had more success at the beginning of '24 than our feature back and then D Mart showed us why he is an NFL prospect.

Why are guys down on Fletcher and Lyle? Those two along with Brown and Lofton situationally are a quality group IMO.
You guys get a little ridiculous tbh

Martinez was far and away our best back last year and both Fletcher and Lyle were here

The room in 2023 was pretty good. Parrish was a criminally underrated back here who was better in 2023 than Fletcher

I’m not “down” on Fletcher and Lyle though it’s always gotta be these extremes on this board

Doesn’t think Fletcher is Najeh reincarnated = we hate him and think he absolutely sucks and never want to see him play again

Best ability is availability.

I am the Founder and President of the Henry Parrish Jr. Fanclub. We have hats, meetings, an agenda. I send everyone home every week with a swag bag.

But the dude never plays. He gets hurt putting on his cleats.

So he was better in 2023, when he was on the field. Which he never was. He missed 2 games entirely, and had 3 more in that stretch during midseason where he barely played.

Give me Fletcher over Parrish. I can count on the former to be there when I turn around to hand the football off.

He needs to tighten up his fumbles fasho especially in crucial moments, but he's good with contact and runs hard..his vision has gotten better this past season and hes a good/decent pass blocker and a sneaky good threat in check down situations..he'll be a day 3 pick imo if he just continues his trajectory so far and has the potential to exceed that, he's not an Elite RB by any stretch but our team is better with him on it then without IMO

The next guy is always the best guy as well. Never fails.

The room just doesn’t have a clear cut leader yet but I hope Lyle is that guy. Fletcher we know what we got there and he’s solid

Part of this is knowing we are gonna probably have to rely on this room more this year than last as well

To caveat, I have not seen anyone speak ill of Lyle. That's tantamount to raising your hand for extra chromosomes.

Fair. All the point really was is that Martinez is better than all these guys

We already had this debate about Fletcher, Chaney, Parrish a million times. It’s a sad debate honestly. All had their positives but no one that you could just say yeah that’s the guy

But me saying that apparently means I don’t think we have a quality group

I’m also a big fan of Pringle that kid looks electric but not sure if I can say that now that the lines have been drawn?

Parrish’s problem was that he couldn’t hold up against the better teams. He was pretty much a non-factor against higher level body types. You saw the same thing this year at Ole Miss. I liked him since high school but he was limited. Fletcher is much more of a playoff-type back and he’s always been valued that way.

Probably wishful thinking and I've said this a few times already but I am curious if Fletcher looks better with an actual off-season.

I don't think he did much of anything for literally months at this time last year. And still played well in 2024. Does he really take a jump with a full off-season with zero limitations? Obviously we hope so, but he might just be who he is. I'll be very interested to see how he looks that first month of the year against good athletes.
