On AJ Haulcy…

I was literally just looking at these stats and about to post them. On top of being the best overall offense last season, we were inarguably a top offense for explosives (with an elite QB putting up excellent YPA).

When your offense can move the ball and score without constantly needing to sustain long drives, it doesn't just help your offensive efficiency, it lessens the likelihood of costly mistakes, drive-killing penalties, turnovers, etc.... We also scored an absurd 42.9 PPG last season. That's not happening in 2025.

Based on the personnel changes, our offense is going to take a step back in explosives and PPG, and will likely require more plays per point scored.
But this offense should still be able to manage a very respectable 32 PPG (top 30-ish). With a much improved defensive secondary and a new DC, the minimum expectation should be that we field a top 40 defense. A top 30 offense combined with a top 40 defense should land us at worst 7-1 in ACC play and get us into the ACCCG. Just get it done.
1000% can be done.

Particularly, I think this defense can improve dramatically within the red zone, and almost become this bend-but-don’t-break version that isn’t **** or impressive, but does just enough to give our offense some breathing room and doesn’t make them feel like they have to get 7 every single possession.

It’s pretty much a lock we’re going to regress on offense; every position except OL. And that’s fine, because last year’s offense was generationally phenomenal and people here are taking it for granted. Those offenses don’t just come by every season.

I’ve made almost the same post pretty much verbatim 20 times since the start of the year.

The offense will obviously regress. That’s fine. It doesn’t need to be #1, and it almost certainly won’t be. But there’s no reason it can’t be ~Top 30.

The defense will improve. I can’t say for sure, but there’s no ******* way it can be that bad again, right? We buttoned up the secondary bigly. There’s plenty of talent. Our DC has proven he can coordinate a very good defense at this level. There’s no reason it can’t be ~Top 40.

A top 30 offense and top 40 defense is one of the better teams in the country if we can limit turnovers. I expect our OL to keep our QB clean. When he’s clean, he’s excellent. His footwork and accuracy decline when he’s pressured. But I expect he will be very comfortable in the pocket behind this OL.

Get it done.

With the expansion of the college football playoff we have a chance to play those teams on a yearly basis. The first step is winning the games we should consistently.

That is a load of horse****.

No kid says "yeah, I would love to play Power 2 competition, but I'm going to the ****** ACC because I will EVENTUALLY play P2 teams in December". That's just insane. 12 or 13 ****** games against the ACC and P5 teams, and then YAAAAY, one game against P2 in the playoffs? Do you know how stupid that sounds?

Plus, the P2 will soon be playing 9 or 10 conference games annually. So regular season games will be off the table.

Besides, all of this is moot, we will be in the Big 10 in 2 years.

Not if Wisky has anything to say about it.

I hope you're right.

The biggest issue for Miami isn't recruiting or coaching. The biggest issue is getting out of the ACC and into the Power 2.

And its not even close.

Terrible Mock draft if ive ever seen one lol
So 25% of the 1st round is coming from the state of South Carolina??? This looks like the most slapped together mock draft ever, but it is too early for anything relevant so perhaps its just for clicks. Could we surmise that Todd McShay currently resides in the state of South Carolina these days though???

Coaching ain’t an issue yet we’ve never won a ACC championship against “weaker competition.” Do the issues that plagued this program disappear with switching to the power two?
