Old or new

Oddly enough, this thread suggests a lot of posters here are well aware of our limitations.

We are talented enough to win the coastal. We still get rag dolled by the real teams but we should win the coastal off TVDs arms and some sceme changes on D. Also, the portal is filled with LBs who would start or at least be like for like back ups right now.
At some point..evidence clearly says this is a false sentiment..no matter what metric you measure talent by. And I’m speaking mostly to depth across the board. It’s not there…now the same man we gave praise in 17 and 18 as the DC loses that personnel and weve seen the decline..that points to depth and recruiting imo. Those 17&18 ads came in waves. Especially when it came to Creating negative plays..he didn’t adequately recruit replacements..and that why we are where we are defensively.

In a nut shell..recruit better annually and the wins and annual division titles come.

No one is saying that the roster is overwhelming, but we are talking the Coastal division. It could be the weakest division in the P5.

EXPECTATIONS WHILE ALSO REBUILDING

Knowing what we know now..which is nothing on the AD/coaching front. What are the expectations for new coach year 1..2..3..if the results W/L column isn’t leading to Annual ACC championship game appearances what signs show we still found the correct guy for a period that can be sustained and shows upward trajectory..what are the expectations Day 1

Here’s reference from our past coaches who were axed

These were “Miami guys” Shannon was 28-22 overall and 16-16 in the conference. Richt was 26-13 overall and 16-8 in conference. Diaz is 21-15 overall and 16-9 in conference.
If We have new HC: Beat teams w less talent. That’s it. Impossible to say what the rooster looks like in 3 years. Or the rooster of any team we play. So how can anybody say anything but beat teams w less talent.

If we have Manny back: who cares.

It’s difficult for a .500 team to recruit any better than Miami has. That said.. it sounds like you’re comparing the roster to a top 10 team. Compare it to ACC teams, snd it’s plenty deep.

Year 1 for Mario, 8-4.

But we run the ball better.
That’s what I fear with Mario..I get instilling a Toughness. That’s a great foundation . But In today’s game, especially down here..you have to be explosive in order to win on the biggest stage. But still be capable to run the ball when we need too…when Oregon gets throttled by Utah..lose to a Oregon st, Stanford etc through his Tenure, I think his offensive and game day management philosophy is why…and those can be simple fixes..if Saban can embrace it, no coach has any excuse as to why they don’t

You're both right here. We are talented enough to win the Coastal. We were talented enough to do so this year.

But that talent level doesn't make us the favorite, let alone a prohibitive favorite. There's very little margin for error if we are going to win.

So, we rarely win.

Of course, I believe we should have won our division far more. But it's very understandable that we haven't, given uneven talent and subpar coaching.

Shameful, but understandable.

I didn’t praise him in 17 or 18. His scheme is designed to beat teams with poor QBs and his coverage shells are nonsensical.

The team that win the coastal don’t put talent us. They out coach us in game and they develop the guys they get better.

Agree with the last bit but winning the coastal is the floor and how you start that process. Next year we will have a big armed receiver, decent WRs, very good RBs and a line that isn’t an out and out embarrassment. Minor adjustments to the defensive coverage schemes and some portal help should get the D to a point where the offense can put up 30 plus against costal teams and win the division IMO.

Absolutely this should be what happens. Less than this is failure.

But I fully expect failure

Lol praise was too strong a word..but the change in simplistic aggression had those guys playing a totally new level

But we’ll see man. I don’t see the talent that demands double digit wins. HOPEFULLY guys get better and prove me wrong

Yeah I agree. I think we stumble bum at 9/10 next year with TVD then regress unless we get some studs in the next two classes.
