He got a couple linemen paid in Tampa. That’s pretty good coaching.

And Iowa’s S&C doesn’t turn its lower rated WRs or CBs to top level kids the way it does linemen. Just pointing out they are evaluating well. Wisconsin too.

People joke and complain that I spend time on here talking about moving guys around. Some of the moving guys around is unnecessary, but other times it's looking out for how skills/attributes transfer to optimize a player's chance at the NFL. When it comes to OL, I think it's not done enough. I also think too many Florida kids want to play offense ("i'm good with the ball in my hands!") over being potential NFL DBs or even LBs.

Drewny, this is very true. I’m holding out hope upon hope that Coach Barry can work some miracles and get players like Reed, Campbell, Gaynor, and Nelson up to snuff OL speaking and the other frosh as well. Plus if we handle our business this season and not drop 3 in a row like we’ve been doing for the past 3yrs minimum, then I think we’ll more 4* linemen who will want to come play for us especially if Coach Barry can get some kids into the league at a decent clip and in rounds before the last one or as UDFA’s.
 
It’ll be a breath of fresh air to not have our OL rotate positions every drive.

The quality and quantity of Ol recruiting needs to improve and I think Manny/Enos/Barry all recognize that.

A negative/positive for OL this year is that we’ll be young and relatively inexperienced but the same OL that starts this year will be starting next year. OL will be a strength in 2020 along with more depth.

Lu some kids don't like to hit. Plain and simple
 
Barry gets points for planting 51 and 55 at LT and LG from the very beginning. Wise decision.

Needing to choose 3 from this group just to round out the OL feels ominous:

Campbell, Gaynor, Reed, Hillery, Herbert, Kennedy, Brown, Dykstra, Nelson, Clark, Elgammal

I understand, but it's also partly cultural down here. A guy like Frierson is an example I keep hearing about - "he doesn't like to hit enough." I've even heard a family member of his say that jokingly about him. But, when push has now apparently come to shove, he's willing to play a hybrid LB role? [Future] money and opportunity talk. If the kids' mindsets were seeded differently from earlier, we'd see a difference.

Down here, if you're pretty good, even adults encourage future NFL DBs to stay at QB (or only play QB) or RB, etc. I get many of these guys are the best athletes and have to play QB for their team, as one example, but keep an eye toward the bigger picture? Maybe that's too much to ask. I don't know.

Gaynor is going to play Center, pretty much. So you're looking for a RG and a RT. I would be shocked if we're not in a better position than 80% of the ACC, at least.

You guys need to remember that most O Linemen take 3 years to develop...not everyone is a Donaldson or Scaife. Campbell and Reed are on track, they have another year to get stronger and step up. Guys like Hillery, Gaynor, and Hebert are on the chopping block. It's now or never. Lets not lump in all the guys together.

There's potential for sure just such a low number of combined starts, and a new offense. Wish we didn't open against Florida.

So where are the names of all the 4 and 5 Star OLineman from Dade, Broward and Palm Beach... You stated this bullchit thread and still no Names. Just made up bullchit numbers....
2018 - Scaife - is a Cane
2019 - Fox (USCe) and Wilson (UF)
Don't give me 3 star crap either... just 4 stars or more across the board... Waiting?
