Ok..Here We Go...Lofton

Didn’t someone say he’d be a helluva LB?
The same guy who told you he was the next Bo Jackson.

And the same guys who told you he would outperform Tyler Warren.

What did your eyes tell you? That he’s Bosworth Jr? This is where being the propaganda arm of the Miami indies backfires.
You’d have to ask Cristobal why he made the comment.

My guess is that it was based on Lofton’s spectacular practice performance across multiple roles. Same reason Cam compared him to Deebo Samuel.

This year, Lofton didn’t perform. The hype did not translate to the field. I was his biggest advocate and I was wrong. But so was everyone else who saw him practice at full health.

Maybe it’s the injury. Maybe it’s conditioning. Maybe he can’t perform in real games (despite flashes as a freshman). It could be all of the above.

I just hope he regains his quickness and proves that he is a weapon.

Coaches are full of chit.

4.48 40 Deebo Samuel? Lol. Cam's a great QB and better hype man.

Lofton rode 4 plays as a freshman to "Next Tyler Warren"

They said the same things off the record. Another coach said he was our best RB.

Doesn't mean they were right. Coaches can change their minds on a player after one bad day. But the hype didn't come out of thin air. Lofton was taking over practices consistently.

At his best, he had the body and strength of a fullback with skill position talent. He was a target monster on Greentree and he usually made the first tackler miss.

But when he got hurt and slowed down in summer 2025, he became an undersized TE with no dominant trait. Even his physicality dropped.

He told me today he is down to 243. That's a positive step. He's better when he sacrifices some size for explosiveness. We'll see.

here we go again with the Lofton stuff. kid has to prove himself. I know he had injuries but he also ran the wrong route that cost us the L-ville game.
Also ran wrong route against SMU into coverage on goal line mesh route, against zone should settle in bubble and Beck threw it perfectly away from defense, he didnt settle ran towards coverage and got popped and dropped TD before halftime.. BIG 4 point play that is a key point for teams that run mesh..

he also missed a ton of blocks. I dont get the constant promotion of him on this board.

We'll see indeed.

There were some early open invite type of practices. It was local coaches and people from the area. Some of them I remember had no real affiliation, no reason to talk nonsense. No media angle or Miami angle

But I remember several comments from people talking about “#9”

They didn’t even know his name just were saying #9 was a beast. So it wasn’t just Miami hype

Either way I think we missed him in the Indiana game. He was starting to play better late in the year

If he’s anything like what we hope the offense is going to be unstoppable no matter what the OL does

Definitely wasn’t the “perform in real games” possibility…

Why was he so hyped coming into last year?

It was because of what EVERYONE saw from him in REAL games as a Freshman…

Injuries that led to bad weight and the loss of confidence derailed the big fella last season…Period

Skill is not his problem…

We have too many highly recruited TEs to not have one that can do simple things. Block and take dump off passes for yards. With Lofton, the thing that disappointed me the most was some of the whiff blocks early in the season. He made a few plays later in the season. So there is still something there. But the superstar performance is something that i will believe when i see it.
