**Official Thread for The Recruits That Got Away**

I think it's interesting to see how some guys turn out.

If Brad Kaaya ends up at UCLA, I'll wish him well. He's a great kid & I understand at the end of the day he had to do what is best for him. Same for guys like Skye Moore (who we slow played) or even Jaynard Bostick (we just got beat). All classy kids who never disrespected us. When a kid like Sticks McCartney pulls the kind of stunt he did, then he can go kick rocks.

I hear ya man, I do. I suppose my point just is that at this time, it's easier to just laugh off these guys that go other places when you realize what they are missing here. Not everyone, but just in general.

Still interesting to watch what happens over time. If they wind up being the players we thought they'd be, if they become bust, if they turn into first rounder.

I dont just look at the kids we lost. I typically pay attention to the top 10-15 players of their position group and see what happens.

I always love seeing the number 50 QB prospect lighting up college football and seeing the #127WR lead the nation in receiving yards.

I just look to see if rankings are getting better.

Usually kids ranked in the top 25 of their position groups fare well but i like when kids beat odds.

I don't think we really recruited him, but Eddie Jackson is doing well at Bama.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...rebuilding-alabama-defense-in-wake-of-am-mess

Yea we came on real late with Eddie, like a week before signing day. The popular story was absolutely no grades, but Bama stayed with him and then he got qualified, they picked him up real easy. Think he tripped to LSU, Alabama and FSU

He is boys with Stacy Coley...I can't call it a miss because we didn't go balls to the wall for him, but definetely sucks.

This is the list that hurts:

Keith Bryant
Rashard Robinson
Matthew Thomas
Denver Kirkland
Amari Cooper
Avery Young
Alex Collins

Hate on them all you want, but there's a lot of talent/potential talent in that list...all from the tri-counties too.

I'm going to get negged, but ******* 2013 tri-counties just did not turn out that awesome for us last year. We got good dudes like Coley & Burns, but a lot of talent left

^^^ Amari Cooper, Matthew Thomas, and Rashard Robinson are the only 3 i would've really wanted from that list....

the two o-lineman, i can careless about, Alex Collins is overrated, and Keith Bryant is a ******.

/ you can mentally fill in the word in place of the asterisks and i'm sure it'll work.

You wanted want Avery Young? Dude would have been nice to fill the gap left by Seantrel when he graduates

I also wonder who on this list is going to be the one to look back in 3-4 years and wish they had chosen UM. (Kinda like Ivan McCartney) You know one of those lame "Where are they now?" plots. I predict Keith Bryant. I think he will have a sob story about how UM was his dream school and he should have went with his heart instead of playing around. Meanwhile he is suiting up for Valdosta State or Bethune Cookman as a 6th year senior.

Not a bad thread to follow, here's a few names going back to 2010 and 2011 that we were recruiting at some point

2010:
Blake Bell QB
Dallas Lloyd QB
Joe Brennan QB
Christian Green WR
Ivan McCartney WR
Chris Dunkley WR
Kadron Boone WR
Michaelee Harris WR
Gerald Christian TE
Chaz Green OT
Dominique Easley DT
Louis Nix DT
Ego Ferguson DT
Christian Jones LB
Javarie Johnson LB
Jeff Luc LB
Willis Wright DB
Greg Dent DB-WR
Lamarcus Joyner DB
Jaylen Watkins DB

2011:
Kiehl Frazier QB
Teddy Bridgewater QB
Jacoby Brissett QB
Devonte Freeman RB
Marlin Lane RB
George Farmer WR
Sammy Watkins WR
Rashad Greene WR
Kelvin Benjamin WR
Nick O'Leary TE
AC Leonard TE
Brandon Fulse TE
Josue Matias OT
Tre Jackson OG
Todd Peat DT
Aaron Lynch DE
Ishaq Williams DE
Stephon Tuitt DE
BJ Dubose DE
Anthony Rabassa DE
James Wilder LB-RB
Curt Maggitt LB

Tony Steward LB
Haha Clinton-Dix DB
Karlos Williams DB
Marquis Lee DB-WR
Marcus Roberson DB
Wayne Lyons DB
Jabari Gorman DB
Nick Waisome DB
Kevin Grooms DB-RB
Robenson Therezie DB

Some guys are studs, others flamed out. Will post 2012-2013 later

UF got 2 stud TE prospects in Christian and Leonard and they both flamed out. Guess they don't just ruin WRs.

Most shocking for me is that Karlos Williams didn't become a stud S. I thought he would be a star. Any that didn't turn out that you thought would be a stud?

It makes me cringe when I see guys like Bridgewater, Cooper, Watkins and Collins doing well on other teams.

That said, it will only make it sweeter when this teams accomplishes things without them.

Great list, Diego. But I think D$'s point was more around the 305-954-561 kids. Many of the recruits on your list are outside the tri-county. We'll never get every Louis Nix or Ego Ferguson we go after. But local kids recruits like Bridgewater, Watkins, Joyner, Cooper -- or the 2012 kids D$ listed above -- they are the ones that we feel we "should" land.

The two locals that got away that I most wanted were Collins and Thomas. Bryant's circus act suggests real character issues, so I wasn't sorry to see him go (though Bostwick was a shocker). Golden's staff somehow pulled a rabbit out of the hat with Figueroa and suddenly the Thomas loss doesn't feel so painful. But Collins really hurts. Gus the Bus may turn out to be elite, as well, but I still believe Alex Collins is the real deal. He's a Day 1 type game changer.

No doubt about the 1st paragraph.

I think its fun to look back, see how some of those guys turned out, and remember the reaction from the board when they picked someone else.

It wouldnt hurt but i dont see it as a big issue, Miami got stud Olineman coming in and we have enough talent coming back that should be able to replace Henderson.

I think Bunch is going to have the inside track on the starting RT position next year, I know he sucks, but hopefully next year he'll be ready to live up to the "hype"

One name that trumps all others on this list: Leonard Williams. Imagine the **** he would cause in this defense. Rotating with Pierre, sliding inside on third down....****.

Never heard of them, but thanks for segregating them away from the Hurricane Family where they belong.

Bridgewater, Watkins, Collins, and Amari Cooper are the ones that I really wish we had gotten. We had a very good shot at all these guys save perhaps Watkins.

Having said that Morris, Coley, Waters, and Duke make me smile all day every day 365 days a year.

AND MAKE NO MISTAKE we will do our best to let them know every time we see them.

this one actually lasted longer than expected...thread still sucks monkey d.i.ck
