As soon as it becomes official, we should all go congratulate Penn St fans and thank them for saving us from 3 more years of mediocracy and excuses.

I was at a get together yesterday that had 3 Penn State alumni and essentially told them that.

Me too. They make fun of me for taking our coach and I fire right back with a thank you as the buy out was going to tie our hands if we fired him.

You need to up selling AL not degrading him if you want him gone...sooner or later PSU will catch on

I basically told them that I was thankful for the job Al did weathering us through the NCAA and bringing the overall talent of the team up, but that with how frustrating our defense has been and some other aspects I was on the fence about him, but that after this weekend it's obvious he wants to go so he should go. Their response 'Is he a good guy, because we really need a good guy.'

Now these were more casual fans (watch the game almost every week, but probably couldn't name more than a few players), but this just kinda blew me away. Don't get me wrong, I too prefer not to have a raging a-hole of a coach (why I don't want Schiano), but for that to be the only question and for them to completely ignore my comments about defense was something else. They, of course, are also enamored with him b/c he is a 'Paterno Man'. The Cult of Paterno culture up there is crazy (and that's not even taking into account the recent issues up there).

Gamineal one day will turn his PC off and never return. I hope that happens soon.

naaa I like posting in here and for the most part folks are fun to speak with and have good things to share. Hating on anyone's opinion is well kind of childish and I know this board has plenty of posters that never dropped a dime to the university or even attends games.

I hope the best or Miami either way a team will be fielded this fall , al or no al...hate will continue what ever happens....guys like you and others will see to it..

PS...have a great day!

Should they thank us for lying to al and forcing him to recruit players with one hand tied behind his back??? I have to laugh at some of you Internet tough guys.

There are going to be two sides to this story. One is going to be from the canes insight crazies with their absurd expectations and the other is going to be everyone else that says golden got screwed here and he is a great coach etc. etc.

Now some of the reasonable ones among us will know that the truth lies somewhere in between. Golden probably isn't the greatest coach but he wasn't exactly given a fair situation to deal with.

For the record I will actually be happy to move on from this with our without him. There will be advantages if he stays and advantages if he goes in my view.

Its our ME NOW society wanting constant change, even Bama fans want Saban gone after the last two games....Was AL the best choice for Miami NO...but he came fixed a few things and has us better than we were in 2010...I like AL and want him to stay but his staff needs cleaned up and I feel he will not do that at this stage..
Ny guess right now..Al is our 2014 coach and the staff stays intact and we have a great recruiting class and a few posters will explode in every loss or close win....we shall see....either way I am a cane and will support the team

I don't agree at all... all you so-called "level-headed" apologists crack me up. Because we happen to view Golden for what he really is (he's pretty much shown us his bag of tricks in 4 years) and we want to be rescued from his mediocrity, that makes us crazies????

I'm fed up with people who continue to make excuse after excuse for this guy, mostly b/c as a head coach Al's made enuf excuses for himself already. He got dealt a lousy hand, fine. He got paid handsomely for it, and parlayed it into healthy extension. I'd call that a draw. Given his less than stellar performance in any number of facets with our program, his recruiting has been his strong suit. But after witnessing tis teams play this year-- I suspect he could have a top 5 recruiting class and still manage to lose 3 games or more for the remainder of his tenure. Then where are we? He & his staff cannot call a game, cant gam plan, and the kids don't seem like they're being coached-up... I saw very little growth over the course of last season. In some cases, I saw regression. This guy has reached his ceiling. He'll be coachingat a "directional" school within 5 year

I agree Al got us through rough times and I thanked him by supporting him and supporting the program through some rough times, while most "fans" have "volted" or stopped giving a ****. However, I feel differently now after this latest round. We fans didn't make the team go on sanctions, we have supported through out, we deserve better. Whether we get better or not, that's another story and if we don't then life goes on, it's only football.

DO I feel entitled, yeah a little. I just dropped $4000 to support this team in Orlando. Do I think that ultimately I will be rewarded for my loyalty with a coach that will do things that make me feel good, probably not. That's life.

I have no argument with what you stated...Al has issues, ones I think can be fixed with Staff Changes...lots of changes. I am not apologizing for anyone...next man in attitude is not great either...

Hard to believe at this point golden is just waiting for ped u to tell him if they want him. In the meantime while they do their due dilligance and interview the other guys we are forced to wait and suffer.

If Al steps up to the podium Monday and says he's gone, Blake James should follow him up there, say thanks, good luck, and we have 3 candidates we're interviewing and give us names.

You guys think they're totally gayballs for each other?

Guy is going to commit career suicide for him...

Hate to even think that. But I would not destroy my career for childhood friend, sibling, or even mother or father. The only person would be my wife of 30 plus years. That I have done twice already. If Al's wife really likes it here, you got to wonder how she feels about his defense of Mark resulting in them being run out of town on a rail. Let's face it, Al's fires Mark and he is golden again for two more years.

Pretty clear Munchak knew when he turned down the Titans' proposal for staff changes that he had PSU already lined up, no?

As I mentioned to everyone get used to Golden being here.
