If I'm Golden and I have the opportunity to go to PSU, I'd take it. If he stays at UM, he is under tremendous pressure to make staff changes, including dumping his buddy, and has to deliver next season. He gets at least a three-year reboot at PSU.

Yep 3yr at Ped state whit basically no expectations, and making more money

Not to mention he'll be back home and packed stadium every week in a weaker conference (imo)

Usually, the University lets the coaches chase them, come to them.

Penn State is really interested in the job.

All the contract details are already agreed to, or they aren't. Today is for show/appearances.

Golden's silence is deafening.

Big Fat Al went all in on this PUS gig. He dove on that opening like it was a carton of Twinkies. There's no turning back now because he already did the damage. He disappeared, is obviously courting another job, went dark on everyone including recruits. All this stupid talk about courtesy interviews is about as lame as it gets. THERE'S NO SUCH THING IN THE REAL FCKING WORLD!

The "courtesy interview" is akin to the "soft commit" or the "non-commitable offer". It simply doesn't exist and is a creature of shysters trying to appease the idiot masses and make it more palatable to the idiots when their HC runs around pimping himself for another job but doesn't get it.

IT'S TOO LATE NOW, BIG FAT AL. It's over here. The ship sailed the minute you went all in seeking another job. Like I said yesterday, it's no different than your wife or girlfriend openly soliciting another guy right in front of you. If he rejects her, do you want that sloppy **** back? Get the fck out of here with this nonsense. Damage done. No turning back from this.

Give me Lane Kiffin with Orgeron and we can keep Coley as OC. Kiffin has been washed up in NFL and college, but he could recruit the **** out of Miami and let the chips fall where they may. Lock him in with a prohibitive buyout.

That 117k stadium was far from packed. And it's going to get worse as their scholarship situation wont get better anytime soon. It will take at minimum 5 years for them to be above water.

Demetrius Jackson said it best: If you actually read the 129 pages, you're a fahgoat [paraphrased]

Bottom line is this..... Coach golden feels guilty.... He doesn't want to tell recruits or players that he is staying like bill obrien did and then turn around to leave anyways.... This is exactly the reason he is avoiding contact with recruits and players.... The damage has been done, I think he lost trust with our players with these antics. A "family" doesn't do those type of things..... Another thing to be on the lookout is that miami could also be contacting other coaches but think about it golden knows they aren't going to fire him because they would be on the hook for his buyout clause. This is why miami officials chris yandle said he is still our coach...

For all those mad at Golden for not saying anything, how many of you were mad at Butch for saying he was staying then going? The other option would be to openly say he is considering the PSU job, but that doesn't achieve anything positive. At this point the damage has been done and I would like him gone, but if he is to stay, staying quiet right now is the allows him to not lie. One can argue that lying might be the best for the good of the program (at least publicly) and maybe it is, but once he decided he wanted to consider PSU, I understand his staying quiet.

This^^^^ There is nothing wrong with Golden taking 4-5 days to make his decision. And he's not betraying UM in considering this offer. We ALL knew if the PSU job came up he was going to consider it. We knew that when he took the UM job. We knew that when he's brought in the solid recruiting classes he has. We knew that when he was on the ground consoling Malcolm Lewis, and we knew that when he stuck with the program even after he found out about the NCAA investigation. If he decides to take the PSU job, he's abandoning a job he said he was committed to see to the end, and I consider him a traitor, but he hasn't done that yet. If he still decides to stay it says nothing about his loyalty that he entertained what most have thought was his dream job all along.

Kiffin? Really? I've heard it all now. Guy took a team that was loaded with ballers and turned it into a **** ball.

I'd be fine with Orgeron being on the staff, but you're crazier than a ****house rat if you think Kiffin is a good hire.

+1

All these great candidates and somehow I feel we will hire none and make the wrong hire oh well

Great in your eyes, how do you know what they say behind closed doors in an interview, or what they will do here as a coach they could suck wind. They may be good where they are right now. This is whole different ball game than anywhere else.

YES!!!!

The freakin guy is the only HC in college football to wear a dress shirt and tie on the sidelines....in 100 degree heat mind you. Dead giveaway.

Not sure what is dumber....that or playing Fentress in the 1st quarter of the bowl game.

So when is he leaving...I'm waiting to open my bottle of champagne and celebrate. Just pray that the treasure troll will hire Butch or someone who is competent.

Actually, O'Brien set the bar pretty high. Didn't PSU win 7 games this year while under the heaviest of NCAA sanctions? PSU fans think they can keep winning regardless of what the NCAA has done. That team is teetering and could easily go 4-8 or worse. If so, they are going to put the blame on the Coach.

I think PSU is looking at a decade of irrelevance. The NCAA sanctions haven't really kicked in yet. It always takes a few years before you really feel it. Look at what happened with us inthe 90s. Our worst seasons happened at the end or after the NCAA penealties were completed. USC is going through the same now, too. Orgeron was able to save their season, but they were on the verge of a 4 win season.

If I were Golden, I keep on the path at UM. WIn. Let someone else fail at PSU...and then take the psu job in about 3-5 years.
