I'm told Al Golden has not discussed anything #PennState (or anything about a new job) with his #Canes coaching staff.

This is false.

I'd prefer if Blake James walked into Al's office without saying a word, changed the name plate on his desk with one that read Charlie Strong, and then calmly walked around the desk and roundhoused him through the window. While Golden writhered around in a pile of broken glass, James would lower his voice, and state "pack your bags, and get out. Full speed ahead, mother ****er."

You mean the same Charlie Strong who currently the 9th highest paid coach in America and will be getting a raise either from Louisville or Texas. Both schools have larger athletic budgets than Miami. Now I know you are dreaming.

What gave it away that I was dreaming - the part where our athletic director kicked our head coach out of his chair and through a window?

Could be negotiation going on with both PSU and the U. If you are Golden you want more money for yourself and for staff you have and you want to hire. He's probably got a list of things he thinks UM needs to spend on to compete. I'm sure we'll know much more by the end of the day.

If he came in asking for more resources I would immediately ask him to explain to me how more money would've helped him beat VT when Maryland practically ran out a handicapped team and beat VT in Blacksburg the next week while holding them to half the yards his defense did. If he could give me a logical explanation then we'll start talking about more resources.

mora & briles declined the job because Texas already has their guy... More than likely Fisher

I so don't give a **** about this.

On one hand, Golden can stay and we can keep treading water and missing out on ACC championships/BCS games. Or, Golden can leave and we go through another couple of years of transition missing out on ACC championships/BCS games.

Big ******* deal. He's a good recruiter. There's LOTS of good recruiters out there, ones that have the balls to make the right decisions. Golden did his job and used his PR skills to navigate the CLOUD but that's over. It's time to make **** ******* happen. ******* Miami man....

hopefully they get it over with and we can take our medicine sooner than later.

Exactly.

This ******* guy stays, he keeps his BFF and we out-talent our way to a decent season next year. It will mask our huge deficiencies.

A good coach could come in and take this budding roster and make some serious noise. I just don't think we can or will do it. We really can't fire him so we may as well let him walk.

Since negotiations are usually handled by third parties, Golden can truthfully say he hasn't been offered, even though the deal is pretty much made. There will be no "OFFER" until the details are already worked out - enabling both parties to save face.

Monday may not tell us a thing.

Then again, he may thank UM and the fans for the great opportunity to coach here, that he steered us through the NCAA times, and now it's time for him to return to his 'home.'

I do stand amazed at how some of you are so unfamiliar with how these negotiations, offers, and acceptances actually work.

The PSU job is all pluses for Golden. These opportunities often come once in a lifetime, rarely twice. He's smart enough to know that.

i am torn. clearly the luster has worn off. even the most ardent supporters have to be questioning some of the results. while it might be against my rational side i actually want him to stay and see what happens with this class he is bringing in. obviously he has to get some results immediately with this class or we have to make a change.

Not sure what the latest is with Golden, but this decision will confirm whether he has any NFL aspirations. In terms of the NFL, going to PSU would be a lateral move - at best. In fact, considering the talent pool available to both schools coupled with the NCAA sanctions for each, it's almost a no-brainer to stay at The U. It offers the better opportunity to showcase yourself.

I, for one, not only believe Golden has such aspirations but count me among the growing minority that still believes in Golden. Make no mistake, losing Al would be a HUGE loss for our program, especially for the next 2-3 years. Here's hoping Al stays for a few more years and then bolts to the pros. Both sides would be better off for it.

I hear you. I honestly have been a huge huge Golden fan since he was hired at Temple. I am from the northeast and know a lot of people in the Philly area with ties to that program and PSU. Golden was a huge part of that area and I was really hoping we would give him a look. I've been on his side from the beginning and think he has handled our off field issues with class and responsibility.

But that only takes things so far. If he stays, and doesnt fire his buddy, **** him I'm out. Long term, I think the best thing for us is for him to take the PSU job. I hate feeling that way. I want him to succeed here. I wanted him to be that guy. Just don't see it anymore.

If AG wanted, he could calm the storm of him leaving, for a short while. He has not to this point. In no way does he deserve a raise from a fans standpoint. He may deserve more $ for his coaches, AFTER our current DC and Dline coach are cut loose.

Did Al sign his financial aid papers? Maybe if he didn't, that's why we aren't hearing anything since it's a dead period.
