Losing AG this way, less than a month from signing our best class in ages, less than a week from bowl raping, to a school still under sanctions, will cripple whatever building blocks have been laid over the past three years.

I know the cool thing on here is to say there's been none laid, and F golden, F insertcoachhere, but the fact is he bolts and we spiral down to even lower depths.

He stays and does nothing about the d situation, then you can bet your ******* either he or Dno are fired next year after a repeat performance of the defensive **** show. If that happens then either we get a new DC and things look up, or we lose golden on our terms and aren't left holding the bag. Either way, the best scenario is AG sticking with us.

Listen, I want Golden gone. I think we can do better. Or at least I'd like to take the chance and gamble on the prospect of doing better. With that said, I appreciate what AG did here navigating this program through the Nevin Shapiro train wreck and stockpiling some pretty good talent at certain positions.

But this is what I see moving forward. I see a team in 2014 that is breaking in a QB with another unheralded QB. I see a team in 2015 that will again be breaking in a new QB. I see a defense that was horrific in 2012 and 2013 and is going into 2014 devoid of talent at DT. And I see a head coach who is thick as thieves with his completely inept defensive coordinator.

What's the goal? For me, it's winning the whole **** thing. It will always be that way for me. Maybe I have my head in the sand, but so be it. The way this roster is set up, I think were at least 2 years away and realistically probably 3 years away to competing at that level. Therefore, I think now is the time to gamble on a new head coach. When this roster is ready to compete for big things, I want a better coach running the ship. Just my .02.

The NFL has no interest in Al Golden.

The NFL wants X and O guys.....not used car salesman.

Remains to be seen. Agree there is no interest now. But we'll see in 2-3 years after some of these recruits start to, hopefully, bear fruit.

Also, I will take some exception that the NFL wants solely X and O guys. Guys like Harbaugh (both), Ryan, & Tomlin (to name a few) are not the biggest X & O guys. While far from suggesting Golden is NOW ready for the NFL, I don't see him being too far from emulating Butch Davis' days here either. And Butch was good enough for the NFL. Of course, just a few years earlier our fan base (and no doubt funded by a few on this board) was flying banners calling for his firing.

Just some perspective, I suppose.

Rex Ryan isn't an Xs and Os guy? LMFAO.

#UCLA coach Jim Mora withdrew from considerations for #Texas vacancy. Was never offered the job, per source. Mora's family loves LA set-up
Collapse

this is how a coach that wants to stay where he is shuts it down whether he has an offer or not. either you are with us or against us Al but make it known asap.

LOL WUT? .....Mora has been swirling in Texas rumors for 2 weeks and is just now coming out and saying he's staying.

swirling with 3 other names. golden is the only name i hear right now over and over.

That's probably because 2 of the other are NFL guys and one is unemployed. There isn't going to be as much "buzz" behind Schiano and Muchak (sp?).

I doubt they offer, but if they do and he takes it, Schiano would be my first choice, with Chud a perfectly acceptable alternative. Schiano could easily keep Coley, which keeps Joe and Kaaya. No way our defensive recruits run from the DC of our last NC team. He would cast those in stone. He has his own NE, especially NJ rep so I doubt it cost us those players. It still snows in Happy Valley. Fate has delivered two NFL HC with ties to THE U as possible replacements. If one can manage to bring Butch onboard the impact on recruiting cannot be measures. Butch, Coley, Hurley oh my!!!!!!!

If you actually expect Donna to hire Butch, then you are even dumber than I realized.

Don't expect it. But new HC in the mist of Al jumping ship, might have the eblow to strong arm Donna -- Chud and Greg were Butch guys -- into accepting him as assistant. Million to one, but we are not talking HC here. Still, thought is clear the last sentence was a dreamy closure.

folks act as if Al Golden isnt FROM NEW JERSEY....im pretty sure he is use to that weather and could igve two f*cks.....

i just want nO fRIO GONE...and if Golden has to go ...so be it NOW.....while we are stock piling some talent

Can a reporter call Chris freet or Blake, and find out what they know about this. A university usually will ask permission to take you coach. Not sure why, but that's what I hear.

Pete, if Golden is contemplating a move, what, are the messages the team is getting?

Can you make a few calls and see what's floating around among the team? They talk to assistants, they gotta know something!

Oh. And don't keep it to yourself!

I said it from the beginning, he is one of the lowest paid coaches in the ACC, and I think he gets a raise out of this (not an extension). As with any negotiations, things break down and change. This could go either way.

Keep in mind, PSU was paying O'Brien 3.5 million and Al is getting paid about 2.3 million, so that to me is the gap that is being bridged, one way or another.

According to an ESPN Miami radio host, Al Golden is not returning calls from current Miami players, Board of Trustee members, or the media

Not a very promising sign.

Who is Hugh McGugh and who might the radio host be?

No Idea just saw it on the ol Twitter and posted it.

I'm torn about if Golden leaves. I like him as a Coach, but have ZERO faith in Onofrio. If he can't get rid of him then I feel he needs to be gone as well. But Whatever happens will happen and we have no control over it. I have been a CANES fan since 1980 and will still be one no matter what happens.
