LAFF LAFF LAFF> That's a joke right? That is the WEAKEST denial I have ever seen. That is basically coach code for "The AD made me issue this "reassuring" statement for recruiting purposes which basically says I am currently the HC of Baylor, at least until I have been offered the Texas job".

Or a saving face post because he knows he's not getting the job. Was widely reported he would accept if offered, who the **** do you think circulated that rumor besides him or agent trying to lobby on his behalf. Some on here are perfect targets for Shapiro. Believe anything

Actually for the last 8-10 weeks it has been the same discussion morphing from Coach D to Golden to Shalala and back and forth with an occasional distraction to argue about the Stadium or the Uniform Police coming running to fight Oregon and Maryland and Smoke Uniforms and helmet and shoe design.

Had the question been stated differently, say Golden comes back next year with Dorito I'd wager the numbers change a lot. At least from the perspective of porsters that understand the game of football.

I am torn because I am luke warm on Golden & very much want to keep this recruiting class together

Have any recruits talked with Golden as of late?

He is not telling them anything right now, but a couple of them believe he is gone because he hasn't come out and denied it.

He stayed quiet the last time the Penn St. job opened up, and it got him a hefty pay raise. He's doing exactly what Jimbo did, and Frank Beamer has done, and many other coaches - use the fear of another job to get them a raise. Al will sign a new contact for more money, more assistant money, etc. when this is all over.

Exactly the same situation with Corch BFA as it is with Jizzbo and other successful coaches who worked their teams for raises after great seasons. I hope it backfires on BFA and they change the locks on him.

I am willing to stick with Golden, keep the class together, and give him the opportunity to pull things together as I believe the suggestions for his replacement are either unlikely or uninspired and will not move the program forward including Schiano, Chud and Butch. Out of the options that seem reasonable or likely, I would have to say Stoops from Kentucky would be my pick right now.
